The one-off Pininfarina Rolls-Royce Hyperion has been listed on Jameslist.com. That means it is up for sale and the price attached to it is a staggering €4.5 million. The Hyperion was created as a special project by Pininfarina after being commissioned by a car collector named Roland Hall.

The design and coach-building house set out to create something inspired by the opulent cars of the 1930s. They used Mr Hall's Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe as a basis but removed the rear seats to free up some 400mm of space. Pininfarina chose carbon fiber for the bodywork (apart from the wooden doors) as opposed to the aluminium spaceframe used in the factory Drophead Coupe.

Although inspired by cars of yesteryears, the Hyperion features modern touches of technology such as LED bulbs and bixenon headlights. The Rolls-Royce Spirit of ecstasy poses firmly atop the shiny front grille.

Engine details were not released but it is known that the standard Phantom Drophead Coupe has a 6.75-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine. It produces 338kW (460hp) and 720Nm of torque. The transmission used is a 6-speed automatic and drive is from the rear wheels.

because it's "One-Off Pininfarina Rolls-Royce"?! it will never be produced in more than one piece, so... considering the number of Rolls collectors in the world (arabs, americans, europeans, asians, etc) I wonder if this car won't be valued in just a few years for more than 6 or 7 mil euros... and not because it's a beauty (cause it's not) but because of its singularity...

That's a lot of money for what is fundamentally a not very nice looking car.

good one scratchy996 lol!! but to add to the discussion I don't think that just because it is a rolls and it is a one-off it should justify the hefty price tag. It really does not look appealing and and looks rather questionable on some angles. Looks should also be taken into account when justifying the hefty price tags or else everyone is gonna start doing the same just to make a quick buck and we are gonna be seeing these chunks of pasted metal down our roads. I hope the buyer doesn't come from north america.

You can have a NICE car collection for 4.5 mil... a Ford GT, an LP640, a 599GTB, F430 Scuderia, Bugatti Veyron, Merc SLR... and still would have money left...

It is not a one-off anymore. Eight units are built and five are still for sale. See: http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=132&Itemid=1
