Tesla Model S In Motion

Video shows Tesla Model S scurrying around with the zippy sound of an electrified subway

An electric car that is, actually, kind of cool?

Here is the Tesla Model S saloon in motion and just listen to that electric, subway-like zipping sound it makes as it scurries away. Who said that electric cars had to sound like a food processor?

And the car has got some moves too, judging by how it turns around and speeds away like that in the video.

Finally, here is an electric car from a small, entrepreneurial company that has a top-notch design to it. Its looks can rival the Maserati Quattroporte.

That's not to hype this vehicle too much because one has the right to be skeptical of the true practicality of an electric car which boasts these kinds of numbers. Tesla claims a 300 mile range (483 km) on this sedan, with room for 5+2 and plenty of trunk space due to the batteries being stacked underneath the cabin. It takes a "few hours" to charge and one should assume that will indeed become more than a hassle when compared to the ease with which you can drive up to a gas station and fill up in a couple of minutes.

Still, watching the Tesla Model S in motion does bring this car closer to the reality of it being a viable option to take to the streets one day.

I agree with Lekz, the Zipping sound is kinda cool, i mean, imagine "Zipping" from 0 - 100km/h in 5.6 seconds, on $5 worth of power, with NO CARBON EMISSIONS; listening to your favourite music without any engine noise interupting the ambience, Then surfing the net, to check the latest Sports results, while you're parked at the Shopping mall, chilling in the TESLA you spent all day waxing, then slowly rolling out of the parking lot coz you can't speed through - 5 miles an hour so everybody sees you, light comin through the moon roof, illuminating your Ferragamo linen, seat reclined, leanin! Cruisin on the late nights, all they see is the brake lights, No exhaust to interupt, just cruising, leather, HD Bang & Olufsen Beosound all around! Man, this is the stuff Dreams are made of. Yeah!

Like Andres2007 said, THIS IS THE CAR OF THE FUTURE! IT DESERVES TO SUCCEED! The US Government should extend a line of Credit to TESLA, If the Fed Reserve doesn't, other investors should! Maybe a Solar panel on the moon roof and Kinetic Energy Recovery System could aid the battery charge while in motion and on braking. Any news on Applications for Dealership Outlets? I WANT IN!!!

And Jaguar XF too, like my man Tashinga said. But who the hell cares. This is the car of the future. Its every corner is damn cool. I really hope these California companies have a future. Who knows? In the 90s it was the Internet, now in the 10s it's probably going to be futuristic cars. They might completely replace Detroit as America's automotive center.

Well, if the Detroit makers keep manufacturing rubbish and Tesla keeps coming up with such awesome designs, then what you said at the end might actually happen. I myself would like to see fancy, clean, fast, efficient cars as "typical American cars" rather than old, fat, unsporty muscle cars. Also, I think that, with this Tesla, the Chevy Volt now looks like a useless, slow and expensive overpriced hybrid - Chevy is out of business, Model S is even cleaner and a million times faster.

For $10,000 more then a volt, and looks to rival an Aston (say what ever you want about copying... at least it's copying from the best designs!) I hope Tesla grows exponentially with it's sales.
