The last model Z4 was built in Spartanburg, South Carolina plus the new equipment probably makes up for the additional cost.

That's going to limit the sales a bit. I think this is a better car but not that much better. It does make the Corvette coup look like a bargain now that you can get several thousand off the sticker price of the vette.

One thing to note, is that the new Z4's entry level engine (sDrive30i) is almost identical to the old z4's top level engine (3.0si) Also, the sDrive35i probably performs almost identical to the old MZ4. 300 Hp vs 333 Hp and more torque. So you could look at like your are getting an all new, bigger Z4 with a retractable hardtop and the same engine for about the same price. You just no longer have a low end 220ish HP option.

True, the price difference is not that big if you compare the new base 255hp Z4 sDrive30i ($46,575) with the old high end 255hp Z4 3.0si ($42,700 MSRP). The old base USDM Z4 was the 3.0i ($36,700 MSRP) which had a detuned 3.0 liter inline-6 producing 215hp. PS: In some markets outside North America, the entry level model of the new Z4 is the "sDrive23i" which is powered by a 201 hp (204 PS) 2.5 liter inline-6. They're probably moving the new Z4 upmarket to make room for the upcoming Z2.

46k for for what!!!!! This thing is was overpriced!!!! You can get a g37, 370z(even the convertable when it comes out will be cheaper), camaro, sti, evo, Solstice, challenger, and charger. all are faster but the americans wont handle better than the z4. All the others are cheaper and faster than the base model. The 370z and the g37 will compare to the luxury and out preform the base model z4 on the track and in a straight line.
