Kia VG / KND-5 Concept Leaked Ahead of Seoul Motor Show Unveiling
Kia VG Concept

Features elegant styling and a 3.5-liter V6 engine

An image showing the concept version of Kia's upcoming VG luxury sedan has leaked to the web ahead of its unveiling at the Seoul Motor Show next month. Dubbed the KND-5, the concept hints at what we can expect from the company's new Amanti replacement which will officially debut later this year.

Created to rival other near-luxury sedans such as the Volkswagen Passat CC, the new KND-5 concept boasts an elegant exterior which features upscale design touches such as LED lighting, 20-inch wheels, and a massive panoramic glass roof.

Riding on new front-wheel-drive platform which will be shared with the next generation Hyundai Azera, the concept features a 2845mm (112 inches) wheelbase that should offer noticeably more interior room than the current Amanti. As we have previously reported, speculation seems to suggest the new VG could potentially be outfitted with a Haldex all-wheel drive system but that remains to be seen.

As with the concept, power for the production VG sedan will come from a 3.5-liter V6 Lambda engine but several other engine options are also expected to be available when the sedan goes on sale.

Looking great, however that rear door looks like it came straight from a Lexus. And boo for front-wheel drive!

Is front wheel drive such a bad thing these days? I mean we are talking about a family saloon soo its not gonna take corners like a racecar, and with technology such as Ford's "revoknuckle" suspension i don't think front wheel drive is such a bad thing. Front wheel drive cars can also save on weight, cost and space in comparison to a rear wheel drive car, everything that is right for an affordable saloon and in these hard economic times.. although it looks like a decent car, I just don't see the point of large family saloons anymore. Downgrade to a midsizer or small instead.

Don't forget that they are also inherently safer to drive then rwd cars. Especially in icy conditions.
