Lamborghini Preparing Reventon Roadster?

Lamborghini Reventon

A new rumour says that Lamborghini is preparing a Reventon Roadster as a final farewell to the Murciélago. The limited-production Reventon was technically based on the Murciélago LP640. A Reventon Roadster would most probably use a rag-top for its roof and be even more exclusive than the coupe. Apparently just 9 cars will be built.

Power will come from the 6.5-litre V12 engine which makes 670hp (493kW) and 660Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. Lamborghini is introducing new models at a much higher frequency than it ever has before. Only weeks ago it unveiled the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce (SV), the fastest Lamborghini ever made. Before that we saw the Estoque four-door concept car being unveiled.

It is said that deposits for the nine Reventon Roadsters have already been placed. While buyers of the Reventon coupe parted with 1 million euros excluding VAT for their cars, the roadster would undoubtedly cost considerably more than that.

A couple of weeks ago WCF ran a story about seven Reventons - 35% of the total produced - that were put up for sale on a luxury goods website. We speculated that the sellers had possibly bought the cars as speculative investment pieces and were then attempting to recover their money plus profits. We wonder now how many of the supposed nine depositors are doing the same.

As I am sure you know, development and testing of a new model requires funding. Clearly Lamborghini is making money off of the Murciélago platform that they already have developed, so why not use it to help fund their company?

The best thing Audi can do is develop new r8 and maybe even porsche platforms under lambo, that way the R8 gets reliable supercar platforms and lambo doesn't stagnate.

This is not a farewell, it starts to sound like a pornography. It's not a Mustang, its a Lambo. It's time to stop harassing the car, just build a replacement. I love Lambos, but this is just taking it too far.

roadster version...hmmm... maybe it's going to incorporate a pair of jettisonable seats , external fuel tanks and be armed with 20mm cannons and air to air missiles - in true ageing Panavia Tornado fashion .'cept that this gas guzzler won't even make it to the end of the runway because its fuel tanks would be bone-dry by then . tally-ho !

i suggest they should come up with a sedan version, suv version, coupe version, truck version, boat version, plane version and then redo all the models with the stupid audi front grill before making an all new model..

it's no surprise lamborghini will pull this one. that's 9 or 10 million + right there. how many gallardo's so they have to sell to make this much?

unfortunately it really does not much to the brand image. the reventon was headline news a year ago, but now it is just not as interesting.

Wow...I wonder how many much these things would cost??

The Reventon is a gorgeous exotic, and a roadster version? jeez... I still prefer a Mercedes-Benz F-400 Carving over it, but thats awesome news! hope they produce it, ill probably buy a couple myself

Would anyone buy it though? Given that like 7 of the reventons are on sale now?

it would be bought, the seven for sale are well above the original price, so I am guessing that those are just profiteers.

I thought that someone would go to Lamborghini and complain that the Reventon is not showy enough and ask for a Reventon Roadster much earlier than this news

finally they're saying goodbye to the Murciélago LP640, GOODBYE and dont come back lol! i didnt like any of them unfortunately but i think out of them all the reventon was the nicest one. a roadster would sounds a little watered down compaired to the hardtop. but if theres only going to be 9 then its no big deal.

1/3 of the Reventon's are up for sale. Why would they build more? doesn't make any sense.
