Platform by Volkswagen, Drivetrain by Audi, apart from the name 356 what part of this will be a porsche?

No, it's the badge, rich people always buy the badge. Look at the Cayenne for instance...

I am not entirely sure I am againt this. A few years ago a rebadge of a VW would have had me spitting nails, but we can't forget the 914/6 and the 924, nor the Cayenne, so there is some precedent for working with other people's cast offs already.

Good step by Porsche. Lightweight and even a bit less powerful cars can be faster than some oversized super-hyper-cars nonsense. I'd still take Caterham R500 though.

I think this would be brilliant. Porsche is full of capable engineers... it shouldn't be too difficult to chop two cylinders off the corporate flat six and stuff the resulting high winding flat four in there to give it some individuality and character. Keep the base price around $35K and it'd definitely be a hit.

Do you know how to read?
"Note: 2011 Porsche Boxster artist rendering image above is for illustrative purposes only. Originally published Nov 6, 2007."
The picture has nothing to do with the possible 356 Speedster. Nor does it have anything to do with Porsche, except for the badge on the car.

Jamaicandude, One problem with creating a flat four from the existing flat six for this car is packaging. The boxer engine needs to be installed longitudinally to mate with the transmission. The VW Blue Sport Concept has a transversely mounted inline four.

they should put the 2.0 tfsi from the r-gti, 260-270 bhp. nice little car

It's not bad news for anyone simply because it is alot of nonsense that has no fact backing it. Porsche has stated many times that they will not build a car less expensive than the Boxster! Speculate all you like but this is nothing more than a figment of someones overworked imagination.

Oh, and Porsche would NEVER call another car the 356 again...cmon guys really!

I dont understand, why do something like this ? why not make a newer fresher car instead of reviving a dead box.

Unfortunately, the 760 kg are valid only for the original 356, this car will weigh about 1200 kg.
Best regards
