It's not like the twin-turbo Z4 won't be fast enough.
I can't wait for all the comments complaining about why there is a X5 M and no Z4 M.
Let's see who's actually going to read the article.

I always admired people with Z4 Ms, as well as M3/M5s...they could have spent their money on something much more flashy, but they chose a drivers car instead. It is too bad that the Z will not get the M treatment, and as much as i like it, I think that there really would be a small market for it...

I take the opposite view. When I see a Z4M driver I think they could have had the far superior Boxster.

some would rather have the grunt of the Z4M over the agility of the Boxster.

I highly doubt this. Who wouldn't want a ligher, faster leaner M3? Plenty of customer demand I would of thought.

No!!! I loved the old Z4M, it was a raw and hardcore E46 M3 in a good looking body (not as hardcore as the CSL though)

It's not the end of the world, there are independent 'recognised' tuners like AC Schnitzer and Alpina that can take a load off BMW's M division and make a performance model... provided you have the extra cash.
This brings back the relevance of having BMW tuners and keep revenue stream coming in for BMW et al.

Soon there will be no M cars, AMG, RS all because of some crisis, I think I've got something in my eye...

History anyone? There were no plans for a MZ3, then no plans to bring it to the US after it was announced. And then there were no plans for an E85 MZ4. BMW simpley doesn't want to kill sales of the vanilla model before they introduce the M a few years later.

Sadly there was not a high enough demand for the old Z4 M, in fact it was way under priced from the dealer, and then depreciated like a GM. For some reason it didn't sell half as well as the M3.

I don't get it, BMw spends millions of dollars in developing this car from concept to production ready and once read and day viewed to the public, then they say no, we've canceling the Z line. What a waste of money.
Sure the car has it's flaws, but it's not that bad.

it doesn't matter if the Z4M gets the scrap cos there's BMW tuners out there that will perk up your Z4 for you...no matter which Z4 engine you go for, it'll still be a brilliant ride i reckon as BMW still is the Ultimate Driving Machine...
