Alfa Romeo has a nice surprise in store for the AutoRAI car show held annually in Amsterdam. The company will unveil a concept version of the Alfa Romeo MiTo that would slot in between the base version and the GTA, if brought to production.
The new Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce would get yet another modified version of the company's 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, that would see an increase to about 180 PS (177 hp / 132 kW). These numbers are very similar to those seen in the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SS, but it is unclear if the mods are identical. In contrast, the MiTo GTA gets 230hp from a 1.8 liter turbo unit, and the best known offering for the almost on-sale MiTo line is a 1.4-liter JTB four cylinder turbo with 155 PS and 230 Nm of torque.
The engine tuning will help the Veloce to a 0-100 km/h time of just under 7.5 seconds. It is speculated to get new shocks, and some new decals as well. We also would not be surprised to see some sporty bodywork changes, and we love the very cool new alloy wheels, as seen in the pics.
You will be able to see the new Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce concept in person at the Amsterdam RAI convention center during AutoRAI. The show will be held from the first of April through the 11th.

Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to purchase the GTA version by mid 2010.
