Marcus Gronholm will be returning to WRC racing with this Impreza WRC2008 from race team Prodrive.

Two-time WRC champion Gronholm will race the Impreza WRC2008 in the April Rally Portugal but says that it's a one time thing that he is doing it just for fun.

That's too bad because perhaps his full return to WRC could bring back some of the old magic from the heydays when Gronholm was racing for Peugeot and there was serious competition between Peugeot, Citroen, Subaru and Ford for top dog in WRC racing.

Now that Subaru has, sadly, bowed out of WRC, the Prodrive team will be running the Impreza for the one rally only, in the hopes, perhaps, of reviving Subaru's participation in the sport and a return to it for the 2010 season.

But maybe Gronholm will whet his appetite for winning again and somehow work it out with Prodrive to race the whole season, with his competitive spirit newly aroused with the hope of beating the current reigning driver, five-time WRC champion Sebastian Loeb who races for Citroen.

Interesting to note, however, is Gronholm's choice of a ride for the everyday race to the grocery store or to work and back. He drives a Ford S-Max. Yes, he last raced for Ford but he seems to be enjoying this S-Max. Maybe he's onto something.

If your a non factory driver then you can be offerd single event drives , you probably wouldnt gain any major points but it keeps your group A license open so that next year a major company like subaru or ford can look at how well you did with that car and maybe offer you a full time drive.

Hehe, he has a nice register plate on his S-Max. And in the second picture he is breaking the Finnish law by talking in to his mobile while driving :D

Nice to see him driving again. He's a genuinely nice guy too. I met him in a store a few years ago and spent a good 20 minutes with him talking about food expiration dates.
