Here's a video of BMW test-drivers taking the upcoming X5 M and X6 M for, literally, a spin in the snow.
The video was produced by the RTL II car show Grip and features BMW test drivers talking about their winter-testing activities in Scandinavia. Somehow this is one job in a very cold climate most people would, in fact, envy.
As the launch date is approaching fast (April 4th), BMW is likely easing up a little on keeping these two models under wraps, which is why they've allowed this filming to take place. Not many details are revealed here, except for a confirmation that the models will come with over 550 hp.
The X5 and X6 M versions are intended to compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. We've previously learned that the V8 engine will come with twin-scroll turbochargers. The only question is whether it will be BMW's standard 4.4 liter V8 (likely) or if there's a new, larger V8 in the works here (not very likely). The video doesn't have anything to say about that. But there's 5 minutes of great footage of the models doing their snow dance and of the test-drivers explaining their cold-climate duties (in German only, unfortunately).
The X5 M and X6 M versions will both do 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds and will be priced at over 100,000 euros.
