Lotus has confirmed to UK mag Auto Express that there will indeed be a topless version of the Evora due to arrive in 2011.
As this is a Lotus, with the emphasis being on keeping the weight down, the convertible will feature a fabric roof that is removed manually. Leaving drivers with the option of even keeping it at home, weather permitting.
Of course, there will be a stiffened aluminum chassis to compensate and manage the loads coming off the road as the Toyota-supplied, 276 hp, 3.5 liter V6 propels the car. How quickly will it do that? Well, the Evora will do 0 to 100 km/h in about 5 seconds and top speed is a TGV-racing 160 mph (257 km/h).
Auto Express is also reporting on a rumor about the Evora, which, of course, we shall indulge in here, that, aside from the convertible, there will also be a supercharged version of the car with about 400 hp to rival the likes of Ferrari and Porsche.
The Evora is due to go on sale in May. Base price will be 47,500 UK pounds (51,425 euros) for the 2+0 car, meaning no rear seats, and a 2+2 version will be on offer for 49,875 pounds (54,000 euros). Lotus will be launching the car with the first 200 models fully-optioned out and priced at 58,460 (63,291 euros).
