Mercedes has released a new commercial showing their 2010 E-Class sedan which reveals that no matter what you drive to meet your significant other's parents, you're still not good enough to date their daughter.
The video starts out by showing an elderly coupe eagerly awaiting the arrival of their daughter's new boyfriend with the father figure playing the typical role of a disapproving dad. Although initially impressed by the would-be son-in-law's ride, he quickly notices the BlueEffiencey badge and labels him a hippie.
Since Mercedes is so quick to point out the greenness of their new model, we'd be remiss if we neglected to tell you that the new E-class boasts three brand new four-cylinder diesel engines that feature common-rail direct injection, fast piezo-electric injectors, improved exhaust gas recirculation and twin turbochargers. Among the diesel powertrain options are the E 200 CDI with 100 kW (136 hp) and a fuel consumption rating of 5.3L/100km, the E 220 CDI with 125 kW (170 hp), an E 250 CDI producing 150 kW (204 hp), and the six-cylinder E 350 CDI with 170 kW (231 hp). The petrol engines also feature improved fuel efficiency by up to 20% while their power ratings range from 135 kW (184 hp) on the E 200 CGI to 386 kW (525 hp) on the new E 63 AMG.
Although many have had to endure similar "meet the parents" situations with far less glamorous rides, it's nice to see Mercedes having a little fun with the latest green craze.
