Here's a couple of spy pics of the Kia Forte Coupe caught sleeping in park mode somewhere in South Korea.
The car is still carrying the in-house code-name XK, which Jaguar may be keeping an eye on since they own the moniker. But its pretty much assure the model will be named Forte Coupe.
The Forte Coupe is still heavily camouflaged here, but being based on the Koup concept, first seen last year at the New York Auto Show, one suspects it will look very similar to that model.
Engines available will likely include a 2.0 and 2.4 liter with 156 and 173 hp, respectively. Kia will also equip the Forte Coupe with the new 1.6 liter GDI (direct-injection gasoline) turbocharged engine which it developed with sister brand Hyundai and was first seen in the ix-onic concept Hyundai debuted at the Geneva auto show last week. That 4-cylinder engine produces 170 hp.
The Forte Coupe goes on sale in South Korea at the end of the summer and a December release for the US market is on the schedule. No details are available as of yet on its European release date, likely sometime in 2010.
