I think you mean Buick badges on some Opels and calling it the Insignea? Come on guys, pull it together.

It 'is' called Opel Insignia in in Europe!! It is a good car, especially the 5-dr hatch version. I wouldn't mind driving one, but not under the Buick name!.....maybe when i'm over 60 yrs old.....

To alamak: That might be the point. Drawing younger people to the brand.
March 9, 2009 4:55 pm
that's my point, no matter how good that car is, its not going to draw any 'younger' buyer......c'mon, you know this is a good car in Europe, but would 'you' buy one if its Buick Insignia? I'm in my 30's, I would not buy one, if its Opel Insignia, that might be a diff case...would you agree? C'mon, GM is falling, and Buick is not going to draw any younger buyer......a Buick buyer would buy a Buick no matter the design, it might draw 'some' buyer with a nice skin, but it DEFINATELY won't draw any younger buyer that it would hope for.....:)

Yeap, that's what they they did with the Saturn Astra. Also there was a Cadillac that was the "copy" of the old Opel Omega.

Are they Mad! I knew GM had now future in the USA when they said they were keeping Buick, the least popular by sales os all their brands and the one that very few people under 60 would want to be seen in! Keep Buick in China, but get rid of it in the USA.

Okay, I always thought the idea of a Buick Insignia for the US was a great one, but... besides that specific product, which other Opels could be sold as Buicks in America?
March 9, 2009 5:29 pm
They have just replacced the badges. Dont they usualy have some design changes to? Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt Buick a luxury brand? (or trying to be one) becuase Opel isnt so it doesnt make any sence to take a non-luxury carand try to sell it as a luxury car with a different badge on it.

Euro Accord is US Acura as well. Isn't Acura considered a luxury brand in there ?
March 9, 2009 6:21 pm
Not really. Only a couple of models are considered luxurious. The equivalent to the Euro Accord is just that, an Accord with a different insignia and a different design. And a different name.
March 9, 2009 6:56 pm
I dont currently live in Europe but when i did i dont think that they sold Acura, it was just Honda. And the Accord Euro over there is just the normal Accord, they dont get the Accord the rest of the world gets.

Folks, this is the Buick Regal that is already on sale in China, based off the Insignia. If it is headed for America it will likely come from China not Germany.

It would be nice, if Opel can leave GM and do the thing on its own. US carmakers are stupid. They wont survive the economy crash. And i?m really afraid, that GM maybe destroys Opel. I dont like Opel very much, the Image is in Autria not very well. But i would be sad if a traditional german brand would be close just becaus of stupid US carmakers...
