Behold. It has arrived.

At least, for all Audi lovers, this is heaven.

Yes, a 2.5 liter, 5-cylinder engine with 340 hp is impressive and will likely make the TT RS a rather efficient sports model as far as mad coupes/roadsters go. And although Audi is hearkening back to the 5-cylinder engines of the 80s with this RS, this 2.5 liter turbocharged, direct-injection gasoline engine (TFSI) is anything but old hat. It's the kind of slick and stylishly glossed high-tech that make German car makers what they are. That is, very good at building these kinds of performance models.

That fuel economy figure is 9.2 liters per 100 km for the Coupé while the Roadster consumes a slightly higher 9.5 liters per 100 km. That's pretty good for an all-wheel drive performance car and credit goes to Audi's configuration of the 2.5 liter and a 6-speed automatic transmission along with making the RS a light touch on the road.

The Audi TT RS goes on sale in March in Europe.

Press release follows with full details on specs and technologies.
