New VW Polo Scans Leak

 New VW Polo Scans Leak
New Volkswagen Polo Scanned from Auto Strassenverkehr

New Polo has grown in size and will come with new technologies from VW such as a 7-speed DSG transmission

VW should build a time machine and send this Polo back about 10 years and call it the Golf. It would be a smash hit styling-wise. Not that the Golf Mk IV was an uninspiring car, it just had an uninspiring design.

So, here's another sneak peek at the the upcoming Polo, which comes to us courtesy of WCF reader Bernd and a spread in a German magazine.

The new Polo continues to grow in size as the car has been on steroids from generation to generation. (The current Polo is bigger than the original Golf.) Although this latest growth spurt is quite minimal with the new dimensions said to be 3.95 meters in length (155.5 inches) compared to the 3.92 meters (154.3 inches) of the current Polo.

VW will first launch a 5-door version of the Polo and it will come 3 variants of the 1.6 liter TDI turbo diesel tuned to 75, 90 or 105 hp respectively. The gasoline range starts with two variations on a 1.2 liter with either 60 or 70 hp. Technology available will include a stop/start function, Blue Motion and even the new 7-speed DSG transmission will be an option on some upper range variants.

A Polo GTI is expected to make it to the Frankfurt show in September accompanied by a 3-door version too. The GTI will come with VW's 1.4 liter TFSI engine with an output of 170 hp.

The VW Polo will arrive in European showrooms in June with a base-model price tag of around 14,000 euros.

I think it actually could be the new golf as well, if only a bit upsized, because it looks far better. Although the face is almost the same as in the Golf, the body flares make it look a lot fresher. Maybe it is nothing really astonishing, but it's made in a proper VW style, and screams good quality from a distance. Great job.

The rear is still terrible, actually, I think it's worse than the current one with those terribly ugly red taillights. The interior looks normal, but too much like the A3 - doesn;t mean that it is a good thing, it's just that the A3's interior would suit something in this class.

This upsizing has to stop! I'm sick of every manufacturer "going premium" and increasing the size of their cars! The current Polo is already bigger and heavier than the early Golfs... Doesn't anyone find ironic the fact that VW's prices are a bit too high for it to be called Volkswagen (the people's car)?!

This is meant to compete with the Fiesta? Oh dear VW... They should pay a visit to their colleagues at Seat, although I'm not a fan of the Ibiza at least it's not boring.

Sorry, but that´s only your opinion. In my eyes this new Polo looks timeless and radiates an atmosphere of quality. The interior has a premium touch. Ever looked inside the new Fiesta?

this will destroy the fiesta, its more likely to compete with the focus :P and since VW owns seat, they dont want the ibiza and the polo to be in the exact same market. i think the ibiza aims a younger ppl than the polo (so in case the polo doesnt steal all the fiesta sales the ibiza will...)

The design is boring, like the Golf. But it's quality marks the difference.

the interior looks nice but the exterior design doesnt really work for me, the front is striaght off the scirocco and golf and it doesnt really flow with the rear end

14.000 eur for base model!!!, it's insane lets see how far they can go with this prices. I think that it will not be only 16.500, more like 16.500 X 10 jobless vw workers.
