Ferrari F142 Mule Spied Showing Some Body Changes and Gestures

Ferrari F430 replacement mule codename F142

F142 mule sports larger wheel cases and air intakes and will likely be called the F450 when it succeeds the current F430

Here are some new spy shots of the F142 mule.

F142 is the code name for the model meant to replace the current F430. And while this F142 comes dressed in the F430's body, we're beginning to see some of the modifications to the model that will likely be seen in its successor.

Of note in these new shots, taken during winter testing in northern Scandinavia, are the larger wheel cases both at the rear and at the front. (The last set of spy shots showed only a larger front wheel case.) The car also has some kind of bulge on the front bonnet for reasons we can only guess at.

Seen before were the larger air intakes just before the rear wheel and on the shoulders of the body. They seem a little exaggerated and may have been shaped that way simply to throw us off. Or maybe those bulging air intakes are needed to provide a more powerful engine with lots of fresh air.

Speculation has it that the F430 will be replaced by a model named the F450 and will come with a 4.5 liter V8 pumping out over 500 hp. The F430 gets 483 hp out of a 4.3 liter power plant. How will Ferrari get that many horses out of a 4.5 liter engine? Perhaps by increasing the rev limit to 10,000 rpm and improving air flow and cooling which may account for those larger intakes.

The F450 will likely take its first public bow at the Frankfurt motor show which takes place later this year in September.

I dont like it. Those taillights are so ugly. And really? only a v8? Wtf is ferrari thinking with their new models. People only buy them for the name now, not the looks and performance. LP560-4 would kick this ferraris ass.

It's quite obvious that you have no idea what a mule car is. So please think before you right. There's nothing wrong with V8's. It doesn't matter what you bring to the table v8,v10, v12 or even a w24. People will still buy the car no matter what.

Yeah this guy really shouldnt be talking, buddy first off mule ok get that into ur dictionary for cars. 2nd no matter what the engine is v8, v10, v12, w12 it matters what u can get out of the engine n the rpm's u can rev it on. Has any one ever heard a car going to 10,000 RPM's now thats crazy! I got an 07 M5 V10 507bhp my mom has a 03 SL55 V8 500bhp guess what the sl's faster n its got a v8, maybe it wasnt a great example cause of weight differences so heres another one, my dads got an 07 Bentley GTC 550bhp ok and thats a W12 guess whats faster that or the V8 sl............ um the sl big V8 supercharged pure grunt. So please really think before u say anything. N one more thing this one may blow ur mind a F430 Scuderia V8 500bhp+ 4.3 liter ok u got that n it goes 0-60 in 3.2 sec. thats enzo yes V12 650bhp fast....... think next time.....

The lightweight V8's are a good idea for Ferrari, who've built their reputation on outstanding track performance. Personally, though, I like the Lamborghini design principle - enormous engine, enormous power.

Anybody that thinks that Lamborghini can ever compete with Ferrari is ultimately delusional. Ferrari can never come close to the pretender's marque--as is proven by the scuderia's dominance of the lp 640. Any successor of the f430 will clearly dominate any offering of the company that was created solely as a reaction to ferrari. Lamborghini is good for rap videos. After that, they are as useless as their products are on the competative track.
