Valet Girls, an all-female parking service company which can best be described as Hooters On Wheels, has been hit by the bad economy too.
The Malibu-based company has had to lay off half of their staff and reduce wages for their valet girls from 10 dollars an hour to 8. Bookings are down 60 percent so far this year.
Corporate spending on parties and events have been cut back severely due to the worsening economy and that has hit services such as those provided by Valet Girls. The company is also cutting its rates from 36 dollars per valet to 26 in order to maintain its competitiveness in these tough times.
Valet Girls also reports that tips are down for their employees and that the company has had to introduce a 20 percent service charge for their clients that will go to the valets.
Even these valet girls can't attract good tips? The economy must really be in bad shape.
But what kind of valet service serves up young pretty girls just to park your car? Sounds a little sexist. Why assume that customers will be mostly male drivers who would like that sort of thing? And how do the female drivers feel about this? Going to a corporate event, struggling to be taken as a equal in a business world still bereft of female talent, only to see that what their male counterparts really only want out of a woman is a set of bursting breasts to park their car.
