Uhm? Burning alcohol-based fuels still produces CO2... Still, I'd love to see how they managed to create a 2-stroke engine sans les poppet valves.

If I go for a run I produce CO2, therefore I should be lazy to produce as little as possible.

Uh, yes, that is true... but you're kinda missing the point... the article is saying, "Lotus believes that C02 emissions would be greatly reduced towards the ideal of zero," but it won't reach zero with this technology. I understand that is only an ideal, so why not begin investing in a technology that can actually achieve it? Besides, it is way too cold to go out running (and too wet to go biking). I'm not 100% sold on biofuels.

Lotus is 'delving' into the world of alternative fuels? Lotus has a ton of experience with alternative fuel technology and has made quite a few alternatively-fueled vehicles. The Lotus Exige 270E Tri-fuel comes to mind. This article mentions some of Lotus's recent alternative fuel projects: http://www.lotusenthusiast.net/2009/02/lotus-and-green-engineering.html
