I cannot helpthinking that they took some colour combination from the Z4 - take a look at the airdam silver slates of the Z4 and the blue colour combination, Audi now uses it on the TT. But overall, I do not see what's so special about this car. To me the front looks ugly with that huge, over exagerated airdam, which is pretty much the sae on all Audi's.
But then again, it looks better than the normal TT - at least sportier. But as compared to other cars like teh SLK and Z4, this car is far from attractive and looks more like a bubble, toy car than a serious sports car.

if it's "nowhere near" 5 seconds, then it would stand to reason that it would be less than 4.5 seconds, right? well the R8 does 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds, and will be around double the price of this car... will Audi let the TT-RS step on big brother's toes that much?
and i still don't understand where this is targeted. the TT competes with cars like the SLK and Z4, and the S- and RS- models are meant to be positioned slightly above and slightly below the AMG and M offerings from Merc and BMW. the SLK350 produces 306bhp, making it 34bhp more powerful than the TT-S, and the SLK55 AMG produces 360 bhp, which is considerably more than 300bhp but probably more than the TT-RS generates so where exactly is this being pitched?

You see, I'm starting to get the feeling that audi is diluting its performance cars a bit with all these different names, R, S, RS... what next? At least in BMW and Merc, you eitehr get a standard car or M/AMG, you will not see a semi AMG, semi M and all that crap! So why would a person want an S if they can get an RS? Seeing that they clearly want a faster car -maybe they cannot afford it?

the S- cars aren't really special editions. they are developed alongside the main model. the RS- version are developed by quattro GmbH and are meant to be the ultimate version

looks great.
it has 340BHP, so it is a contender for ths SLK55

Hope they redeigned the chassis, not just some new suspension parts...because the standard car chassis will definately not be able to handle that power, judging from the poor handling of the normal TT

Also keep in mind it have an engine twice as small as the merc, making it considerably lighter and more efficient.
February 24, 2009 7:30 am
This car'sengine is far from being efficient. compare the stats with equivalent BMW and Merc! It is sipping oil like an oil monster!

AUDI HAVE DONE IT! THIS CAR IS STUNNING!
...AND THAt COLOUR!!! OH .... MY ... GOD! BEAUTIFUL!
February 23, 2009 8:12 pm
Nice colour combination though -whcih is exactly the same as the Z4 launch car! Shows you what Audi had in mind concerning this car's direct competitor
February 24, 2009 5:46 am
So... nice... Too bad it does no have wide fenders on it like the previous RS models. I wouldn't mind having one though. drool. This car makes the Z4, SLK, and the Cayman/Boxster look dull.
February 23, 2009 11:39 pm
not the new Z4 - I think this is like a toy car when compared to the new standard Z4 -wait till the M brings out their version. And just to let you know, the new SLK is near! This does not even make the class of the Z4/SLK

Rather tell me what is the combined l/100km and what efficiency technology has been in place - which I suspect 0 effort from Audi again in this department. DISAPPOINTING!

Please go to the Toyota Prius III thread. You are definetly wrong here...

using a 5 cylinder instead of some bigass V8 sounds like downsizing to me, which is rather good, environmentally. So this is the ultimate car to get, sick performance and not completely unreasonable consumption (maybe;)
and it is a beauty alright
February 24, 2009 6:57 am
The point is to have good performance, yet environmentally friendly - wait till the CO2/km and l/100km comes out and you will get the point. Then we will see who'smore techno advanced and who's more efficient.

Wow, so professional of them: "well over 300hp", "nowhere near 5sec" This sounds more like cheap marketing than something you would hear out of a respectable car manufacturer! I almost understand why they do this, they need to build a lot of hype surrounding this car as they need the performance to speak louder than the design! From where I'm sitting, this car looks tacky compared to the SLK and even the Z4, mostly because of that front end.
February 24, 2009 6:12 am
I am sure it will go under 5 sec if the power will go over 300 hp with turbo. because of its weight and Quatro-system. 5 cylinder will be economical.
I am waiting this car to see what will do in real world.

ShinyG this car is a lot nicer than its rivals
The only reason you said that was because you either work for Porsche or BMW or Merc, or you own one of the cars.

Audi had this colour combination since 2002 on the S4, i dont know what you guys are talking about copying of BMW Z4...That is a standard audi S4 blue which has been around for a very long time. The aluminum mirrors are on all of their S and RS models, and it only makes sense to make the front lip aluminum too for accent purposes. I dont think there was some conspiracy on audi's part to copy BMW.

The colour Blue wereused on cars since Ford decided to introduce that colour other than black. But to have a combo of silver and blue on the face of the car was done by BMW's Z4 first and thy were so successful that this repeat of the combo on the FACE of the TT (not sde mirrors or whatever) makes people think of the new Z4. I call this copy, you may call it an inspiration, other may call it reference. But to think of a BMW when you see an Audi (not only in this case, in other design issues as well) really does not do good to Audi at all as an individual brand. It actually markets more for BMW.

Blue was an RS color since 90-s. I remember e.g. RS4 Avant from this time. And yet current TT RS has a supercar abilities with the sort of normality price tag at least on coupe with his tough symbolic 2+2 seats. Fine car to own an use I think.
