Hyundai debuted a variant of the "Epic Lap" ad promoting the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The commercial, seen last night during the Academy Awards, features a performance by cello player Yo-Yo Ma.
Yo-Yo Ma performed Bach's "Cello Suite #3 in C, Gigue," and also aided in the editing of the video. The spot features some of the same footage as the "Epic Lap" commercial edited by Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. Driving the car is Formula-D champion Rhys Millen, a Pike's Peak world record holder.
Two models of the Genesis Coupe are available, including a base model with a 210 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that gets about 30mpg. Also available is the salacious Genesis Coupe Track model with a 306 horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine and Brembo brakes.
The new 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is due out this Spring in the United States.
