Is this car replacing the RS6 as the only RS car in Audi's lineup? As far as I remeber they only have one RS car at a time, but maybe this have changed?

Dude, and the RS4?! Sedan and Avant... And they have the projet for the A8 and the R8. So... No, dude... They won't replace the RS6. They have a line-up of RS badges. ;)

lol...the RS4 is no longer produced, at the moment the RS6 is the only RS in the lineup. Somebody needs to do some research about cars first. Audi never had any "lineup" of RS models, there was only one at-a-time, the RS2, the RS4 (B5 based), the RS6 (C5 based), then again the new RS4 (B7), and now the the new RS6. Every RS model replaced the one before it. They never made RS4 and RS6 together. Damn, some of You don't have any idea about what You write, don't You...

you're right afterrace2, but the kids here are too young to romember that Audi had only one RS model in current range, it was always that way. But I don't think they are going to have this "tradition" any longer.

is this car replacing the RS6...looool.....what a stupid question.
February 20, 2009 12:36 pm
Actually afterace2 is correct in his comment. Check out availible models at audi.com or google it since so many of you guys don't believe it.
February 20, 2009 1:25 pm
Haha... Replacing?? C'mon Audi will have lots of RS models at the same time.
February 20, 2009 12:52 pm
Tumbo, history tells us that Audi only produces one RS model at a time. However, recent developments in the TT RS and RS 5 may well see the end of Audi's tradition of only having one RS model in the line-up, as the RS 6 is still a new model.

and you should just learn that things change, time changes... there really was such a... hmmm, concept of a "one RS at a time", but i've come up with some rumours that this is an old story now... and how come RS6 is the only RS-model in production right now??? maybe smoe of folks forget who is responsible for the Q7 V12 TDI - yes, it doesn't have the RS-badging, but if i remove the badges of the RS6, it doesn't become a normal A6. and what about the soon-to-be future RS5?
February 20, 2009 2:34 pm
Yeah, the Q7 6.0 TDI may be made by the Quattro GmbH, still it doesn't make it an RS model. And I heard those rumours as well, thus my first question appeared. IMO the rising competition in performance luxury cars market will force the Audi to leave tradition and estabilish a new line of RS models. Soon we will find out.

So what we're looking at here is the ultimate interpretation of the Golf.
February 20, 2009 3:12 pm
true. And I don't think it is going to be particularly good handling car. It is more advanced than first series TT, but still uses Haldex based AWD - with 340hp - not good.
February 20, 2009 6:37 pm
kimbo, I beg to differ. The TT-S handles great, even with its retarded engine positioning.
The TT-RS should be even better. ...unless they overdid it...
February 20, 2009 9:25 pm
yeah, I heard good opinions about handlingof the new TT, but still, I'm not sure about that haldex awd.
February 20, 2009 9:44 pm
ok... but RS4 Cabriolet was in production in 2007-2008 and the RS6 is in production from 2008. maybe when they started the production of the RS6, the RS4 was out of line. Ok, I assume that i was not inside of this issue by 100%. Sorry folks. But like hitar_potar says, maybe "we" will have a lineup, cause i don't think that they will finish with the RS6 in 1year, such as the TT-RS and so the upcoming RS5. Right? or maybe I'm wrong again...
February 20, 2009 4:12 pm
yeah, it looks like they're going to have more RS models now, when you can make more money with more RS models, why not?
February 20, 2009 6:36 pm
if audi goes for a 2.5 twin turbo that gives 340 bhp ill sell some of my body parts and by one of those. but as far as i know audi, i thing they will go for the 3.0 tfsi.. which in that case, 340 bhp, i think it will be little. nice car anyway

here is a sound file off the TT-RS:
http://www.fourtitude.com/blog/tt_rs_engine_sound.mp3
February 20, 2009 11:21 pm
if that is infact the TTRS then it sounds like it will be the 5 Cylinder Turbo. it doesnt quite have the sound of a 6 and i dont hear any signs of a supercharger.
February 21, 2009 9:26 pm
The TT RS and the RS5 were both captured testing at around the same time, and if Audi has never had two simultaneous RS models at the same time, I think it would be logical to assume that this will likely be the first, with the current RS6, TT-RS and the RS5. I wouldn't be surprised if an RS4 came out soon as well.

in recent memory, the S- and RS- versions of any car were positioned slightly lower and higher than their equivalents from M and AMG i.e. the RS6 is more powerful than the E63 and M5, but the S6 is between the E63/M5 and the E500/550i.
but that doesn't seem to apply with the TT. the TT-S makes 272bhp, which gives it LESS power than the SLK350, and the TT-RS needs 360bhp to match the SLK55 AMG... a number i don't think it'll easily achieve with a 2.5 turbo. so what exactly is Audi playing at?
February 21, 2009 8:58 am
man this car is kinda boring now. It's been in development for two years. Kinda ridiculous when all they had to do was essentially shed some weight and tune up the engine a bit. How quickly did they have an RS version when the A4 came out?
February 21, 2009 4:01 pm
Haldex is great at distributing power to the wheels, and its been proven at the track. after all, if its good enough for the Veyron..
February 21, 2009 9:05 pm
Veyron is different tho. cos it's rear engined, power is sent to the rear wheels first, not the front ones as in the TT
