An official image of the 2010 Kia Sorento is up for everyone to have a look. The Sorento will be showcased in the metal at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show next month. From the exterior appearance it looks like the Sorento has gained some length. It has even been speculated that a third row of seats are now added for extra seating capacity.
For its April 2009 South Korean market introduction Kia will use a 2.4-litre Theta II petrol engine to start, then a 2.7-litre petrol on the upper rungs and finally a 2.2-litre turbo diesel R-engine. The latter is Euro5 compliant. It has a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that helps in keeping its C02 emissions cleaner.
The R-engine has a maximum power output of 200PS (147kW) and 321 lb.ft of torque (436 Nm). It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Kia reckons it will return 14.1 km/l (20 mpg UK) on average making it even more fuel-efficient than its younger sibling the Sportage.
America will get a 2.4-litre engine or a 3.8-litre Lambda V6 with an estimated power output of 270hp (199kW).
