2011 BMW 5-Series Leaked Brochure Image

2011 BMW 5-Series F10 leaked brochure scan

Real or fake?

A alleged brochure leak has supposedly unveiled the upcoming 2011 BMW 5-series ahead of schedule, but like most leaks we still question the legitimacy of the photo in question.

The photo has a strong resemblance to the recently unveiled 5-series GT Concept (PAS) which lends itself to a lot of speculation as being the source for this possible photo crop. Realistically though, the GT Concept is a preview of the next generation F10 5-series so a virtually identical frontal appearance would be expected. The image also appears to feature the leaked front bumper that showed up several months ago.

Regardless of whether or not this is a real image of 2011 BMW 5-series, the new model will build on the success of the current version by offering more fuel efficient technologies and a new interior. Among the key changes are an exterior that will feature the use of lightweight aluminum body panels, a slight increase in wheelbase, and a revised front suspension that uses control-arms instead of today's MacPherson struts.

Power will come from a variety of petrol and diesel engines including the much loved 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine and the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 400hp and 450 lb-ft of torque.

BMW is obviously about to widening the circle of people who never will look at their cars as an option. Appears like an evil from horror movie. Very teutonic and definitely not bland. Or somebody really can assume it as a fine result of European aesthetics or epitome for more than 120 years automotive culture with no dumping on almost everything.

I can tell you now that that is not the new BMW 5 Series. We are still busy with the final clay design. The one youa re seeing in the picture is a scrapped idea from 2/3 years ago - hence the bumper sale bid on line! Wait for an amazing beast people!

Looks too wide (big) and sits a bit too high to be the next 5 (maybe a crossover?) but it looks MEAN!! ROARRRR! Put 4 exhausts, and M in front of the 5 and a mean aero kit and u can send 1 right over to me

I couldn't agree more. No more innovation after Bangle's departure?

Please, Audi could only wish someone would copy their boring designs. They are the bottom of the foodchain when it comes to design, just like a VW Polo. How un-inspiring

THis is not 5 serie - look complet image and you can find the new X1 - not 5 serie limousine - Perhaps the PAS but never limousine - the car it's to high and the mirror too big.

The front, especially the headlight units and the lines next to the grill are actually quite different from the PAS concept, which is very good, because the PAS have a totally ugly front. This one looks miles better, and makes more sense as being closer in look to the 7 series. If this is a real deal, i'm in!

Being the aggressive car in a segment where the competitor's cars can make you sleep by simply looking at them is definitely a good thing! I can't wait to see some side shots of this thing! Mercedes already released the E-class which looks worse than the last one in my opinion, and the A6 is dated and boring. Expect the next A6 to have the usual Audi design with an even bigger front grill to compensate for the lack of everything else...

exactly, those audi/vw designs are putting me to sleep, all they know how to do is the stupid LED line, enlarged front airdam and that ugly grille, that's all!

im guessing the side shot will look like a smaller version of the new 7 series, just like this new 5er front looks like the front of the new 7

It's just a brochure for the production 5-series GT (PAS), nothing more. That would explain the impression of largeness and Q7-likeness that it gives off. Though those 'eyelids' really make it look like the Q7. BMW need to be careful with their designs so as to not draw similarities to their rivals, as I just have. Kidney grilles and halo rings are no longer identity enough, Bimmer.

Also, does anyone else think they're overdoing it with the flame surfacing? Especially on the bonnet? Even on the 3-series saloon facelift, they've just made it more complicated. Bangle's last cosmetic overload before he took off perhaps?

The E60 was bad, this is no large improvement

I like it. It looks aggressive and powerful. Likely an X5 rather an a 5 series.

AGGRESSIVE! GRRRRR!! I have been eagerly anticipating this next 5er. I am weary of all the SUVs and the new 5-Series GT is not what I am looking for. An aggressive, Teutonic, good-looking sport sedan is what I want, manual transmission and all. I hope the real car gets my attention, too.

Why would BMW produce NOW a brochure for a car a year away? Clearly either a fake or confusion between this and marketing material for that dreadful 5-series hatchback thing.

I agree with some of the guys that said it sits too high to be a 5... maybe the X3? It looks cool...

sorry but this is fake,, BMW won't make a brochure more than a year before the introduction of the car :)

someone just took the picture of the new 5-Series GT (PAS) and put in the bumper found months ago and a long day in-front of photoshop and kabum,, there you have it...

just like with other model brochures that have been released well in advance of production, it is entirely possible for a picture from a brochure that is only available to those high up in BMW to get leaked. And thats definitely not the 5GT; just look at the headlights etc. Its quite obvious

As been said many times, it looks MEAN, very mean. I like it. But whats up with the thing over the headlights like on the Merc C class?

schnell
February 18, 2009 11:20 PM
its the same thing as on the current 5 series. they call it an "eyebrow."

February 19, 2009 12:49 AM
it's sitting to high off the ground to be the 5 series, Possibly X5?
