Renault has launched a new website to mark the introduction of the Renault Megane R.S. The site includes a teaser image of the car, and a countdown clock until its Geneva Motor Show debut.
A three-door version of the car is practically guaranteed to rear its head in Switzerland, while a five-door version is said to be under consideration as well.
There is a striking similarity between the front end, shown in the teaser image, and the Megane Coupe Trophy, displayed in Paris last year. Shared attributes include the hood shape, side-mirrors, headlights, and air intake. The three-door model has previously been rendered as a high performance sports car with vertical doors, but with more conventional elements. After all, the hot hatch is meant to compete with the likes of the Scirocco.
The 2.0-liter engine should come from the Renault Megane R26, with tuning to produce 250 horsepower in total. There is some early speculation suggesting a 0-100km/h time of about six seconds when the driver uses the standard six-speed manual transmission. Other performance features could include Brembo brakes, limited slip differential, double-axis front suspension, and tighter power steering.
The new Renault Megane R.S. will be introduced to the public on 3 March at the Geneva Motor Show.

Although Magane's/Clio's have always been referred to as 'RS' by enthusiats, they have always been referred to by the full 'RenaultSport' name by Renault...
Looks incredibly similar to the setup of the Scirocco 'R' fake...

I always liked the topoftheline models from Renault (used to want a R5 and after that the Clio Williams when it was launched) This one will be as exciting as all previous models, well except maybe the Clio of the last few years 192 or 176 or something, they were just bland and not really up to the tradition.
