Wtf is happening to the world? First BMW reveals 5 series GT and now this? I dunno it doesnt look that bad but its the most useless car ive seen in ages.

Beetle, I agree with you. Useless??? It?s as useful as the A6 Allroad, but smaller and cheaper. And there?s a lot of people that prefers sedans like this more than SUV?s -as the Q5- for similar purpouses...

I'm 100% with both Beetle and fer ... this is a perfectly USEFUL vehicle ... 95% of the stupidly over-high (with inherently poor handling) and horribly over-weight (with inherently terrible fuel consumption) SUV fleet never leave the tarmac, let alone go anywhere that requires serious offroad ability ... on the other hand an Audi offroad in either A4 or A6 guise is exactly what should be on every wagon buyer's short list.

I'll tell you something it snowed really badly in Britain lately and I can't tell you how useful a relatively cheap car with four-wheel drive is. There was so much snow that any front or rear-wheel drive car could barely get any grip, if any at all. So I think this is a wise move.

I also live in England , if we had snow like the canadians we would be dead!
I have a front wheel drive caddy van with ASR and I never got stuck once , its usually people who stick their foot to the floor and go no where and wonder whats happening.

Oh Lord I think you're right. I did slightly floor the car...but front wheel drive is genuinely better for snow conditions.
Snow was teribble though wasn't it?

i am an audi fan but i can`t see the purpose of vehicles such as the a6 and now A4 allroad.
u can`t go offroad and it has disadvantages on the highway. i am not a fan of those crossover vehicles. they can`t do anything properly imho.

Its not a crossover...it's a WAGON that allows a little more versatility. I can't tell you the number of times my allroad had taken me places even an SUV couldn't go because of quattro and a little ride height. It is the perfect vehicle for my usage and adapts very well to many conditions. And it's not an SUV. I mean seriously, how is the target audience any different than a Subie Outback and TONS of those are sold in the USA...perfect place for this Audi to be.

The A6 Allroad was out of my price range. An A4 Allroad is another story. Plus I have always loved the "rugged" look of the Allroad as an SUV alternative. Give America the damn turbo diesels, too! (Make mine a 3.0tdi)

In response to catchmyshadow: Can't go offroad with them??
You are kidding right?
They come with Air suspension and you raise it up. You haven't see the video of the Allroad that climbs up the snow slope leaving all of its competion stuck??
These are the best Off road vehicles.
on the Highway, the suspension is lowered all the way down... the vehicle is actually lower than the regular version which means less drag.

Unfortunately, the A4 allroad has not an air suspension like its big brother.

These arnt useless, theyre manly station wagons. Why are ppl just now coming out w/ competiters(sp?) for the Outback and the xc70?

i like it, Audi is very good at making cross-overs they always look really good. Is it coming to AU?? And i dont think that they are useless some people need a little bit of offroad capbility and like the 4x4-esk look.

good looking car. they should stop making the Q7 and even Q5, to replace them with A4 and A6 allroad. although, Q5 is not too bad looking, then again those giant SUV are gas monsters.

This is not an Offroad, it's an Allroad. Only a few hours ago (as in twice or more every week) I needed Allroad functionality. Sliping and sliding in rain soaked dust-turned-to-mud roads... dipping into pools 2x the length of my car and deep enough to just touch the bottom of my car demands an Allroad... But that's less than 3% of my weekly distance. So an SUV is not justifiable, economy wise. But then again, that 3% of road causes permanent damage to lower parts of my car. And loss of traction has led to too many near collisions with trees and bushes. I'm getting a Subaru to cure this because I do not need a large heavy SUV for 97% of my driving.
