Seat has unveiled their Exeo ST (Sport Tourer) at a special preview event ahead of next month's Geneva Motor Show. Like the Exeo sedan, the ST is based off the previous generation Audi A4 which rides on the B7 platform.

The wagon's exterior has a strong resemblance to A4 Avant but Seat lessened the similarities by adding the brand's traditional front end that features a large grille and attractive headlights. Out back, the ST's rear hatch gets a styling facelift that features new taillights and slightly chunkier bodywork.

The interior is all Audi, which despite looking a bit dated is a good thing because the previous generation A4 was known for its high quality and use of premium materials.

At launch the wagon will be offered with a variety of petrol and diesel engines. Petrol engines include a 1.6-liter with 102hp (75kW), a 1.8-liter producing 150hp (110kW) and the 2.0-liter TSI that churns out 200hp (147kW). Meanwhile the 2.0-liter diesel engine is available in two different outputs, one producing 143hp (105kW) and another with 170hp (125kW).

Seat's new wagon goes on this summer with prices starting at €21,990.

Exeo isn't based on previous A4. It IS previous Audi A4 with only minor design tweaks. And this brings two questions: 1 - if B7 A4 is still good enough to compete with new rivals, what was the point of making new one? 2 - if it isn't, who will buy it? It's too outdated to compete with premium brands, and nowhere neare to Mondeo/Passat/Avensis when it comes to space and practicality. When I look at Exeo I see Daewoo Nexia - korean version of Kadett E made to compete with Astra.

This just isnt right, i know it is an old platform they could of had that but not the whole design and just tweak it. Come on VW think of all the old A4 Avants owners who are going to be driving along and then have one of these pull up next to them, they will feel so emabressed that the guy who payed ½ of what he payed has almost the same design.

if one of these pulled up alongside you'd be hard pressed to spot that it's a different car lol. the profile is identical

this is shameful. they have even designed front and tail lights so as not to modify side pannels used for the A4. shame on you volkswagen. nobody can take seat seriously with this policy. i (and guess many people also) would never buy a car based on an outdated design so noticeable. disrespectful also towards previous A4 owners. VW-Audi has lost my respect after this. if seat fails as an automaker, it can only be VW´s fault. shame on you VW.

Remmeber cars like the Sharan/Alhmabra/Galaxy, the Lupo/Arosa, the Polo Sedan/Cordoba, Passat/Super... All of these cars were twins, and nobody said anything. The Exeo is a great car, with premium technique but for cheap prices... This is what we need in these times... I like this car very much, like many other people from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy....

yes given that those cars shared body parts but, it was in the same timeperiod so they were still in style. Its not like ford had the design then VW took it and then gave it to Seat they were all made at the same time (using the Sharan/ Alhmabra/ Galaxy as an example)
