Here's proof of how serious Artega is with its development of the Artega GT. The car was caught on camera doing some winter testing at temperatures of -20C (-4F). Artega has already confirmed that it will be built and several times it has appeared as a concept and prototype at motor shows like Geneva in 2007 and 2008.
Most of the Artega GT's main parts will be sourced from the VW Group parts bin. It will be made of lightweight construction materials like an aluminum space frame and carbon-fiber reinforced bodywork to get the best power-to-weight ratio. Artega says it will weigh about 1,100kg (2425 lbs) as a result. Safety is not neglected as the GT gets ABS, airbags and bi-xenon headlights.
Power comes from a 3.6-litre V6 engine rated at 300hp (221kW) and 350Nm of torque. Through a 6-speed direct-shift gearbox the Artega GT will be able to blast from 0 - 100km/h in under five seconds, topping off at 270km/h (168mph).
The Henri Fisker designed GT will sell in a very limited number of 500 units but this may be extended if demand exceeds expectations.
