An Audi with a VW badge on, the whole VW Group is messed up... where's the brand identity? Imagine the next Passat is the old A4 and the next R8 is the old Lambo. Well, nothing is impossible here - the old A4 Seat is the new Seat.

to be fair, BMW was playing with the idea of using the new MINI platform for the 1 Series as well. 35% of the Phantom is 7-Series, and the new RR4 is gonna be a stretched 7-Series underneath. platform sharing is a good way of splitting costs and not necessarily to the detriment of the brand.
for example, the Golf V has (had) quite an advaced chassis. multilink rear suspension is expensive for cars in its class. but sharing the chassis with the A3,Leon, Octavia, TT, Eos etc. means that it can pass on the savings to consumers, and each of those products has a distinct identity.
also, Audi has been getting better at not sharing platforms lately. the A4, A5, A6 and A8 all have dedicated chassis that aren't used by other vehicles in the range.

This is a nice looking Vdub. I think the strong lines and stance are perfect. Success of this will be determined by its price point, considering people aren't willing to pay a lot for a VW (Phaeton). I think it should fair well against Camry/Accord/Taurus, etc.

I like it! The new upmarket Passat has fresh lines, and moves beyond the bulbous look of the present Jetta.
VW's bring a unique value to the buyer that the general population are unable to appreciate.
If this new 'Passat plus' brings the USA a 170hp TDI with several transmission options, and is built with the historial VW durability, I will buy one.
My '85 Jetta diesel still starts up first time, and shows very little rust with 200,000+ miles.
Bring the new one, VW!

Spot on.
And not only the Lexus, but also a hint of the current american Accord and even some Sonata cues. Such beautiful, exciting benchmarks, right?
I don't like it... sketches are usually more exciting than the real thing, and this one is already boring in paper... and given VWs ability to turn even the hottest showcar into some bland, dull german appliance... I wouldn't expect anything any better than "yeah, that's okay" when it hits the streets.

Hey BMWPrince, its called platform sharing, something that clearly BMW does not have much experience since they don't own other sub-divisions that can share with their current line up. I don't think they can platform share with MINI.
For others that say VW is steeling from Audi designs, I'm sorry, this sketch has sharp lines with a slightly square roof line. Audi's current line-up does not have any sharp lines to their design (complete 180 degree).
Now, I can see some Cadillac and late 90's Honda Prelude coupe influence in the sketch but no Audi.

As i have already said, this is nothing more but ideas and designs nicked off by VW. Audi lexus or watever, they have a history for this.
Take the Golf Mark V GTI W12-650, engine from a bentley continental and rear axel from a gallardo
This is just a A5 with 4 doors. Enough said

It's just a sketch, nothing more. As far as the front end is concerned, I cannot see a resemblance with Audi. Just look at the headlights and grille of A5 for example...
