the whole car is based on the W140 S-Class (2 gens old) with the interior from the W220 (1 gen old). i don't understand why you wouldn't get a fully loaded S500L and spend the change on... well, anything else.

They should make more spectacular cars that stand out of the crowd, but that would probably drop s-class sales since every S 350 driver thinks he is in a maybach...

I think Hyundai has really messed up the image of the Maybach. From the outside i just don't see a 500,000euro car in these pics.

I have been expecting a Zeppelin since Maybach came back to business, but I was really expecting something different, a little more retro in design (i.e., like Rolls-Royce does it), and with a personality on its own. This is just a fancier Maybach 62 with a very attractive name.

This is the most pointless car on the market. I am a huge Mercedes-Benz fan, but this is crazy. sub39h is right, this is an old generation S-Class with fancier leathers, wood trims, and amenities, and the AMG Bi-Turbo V12. To spend that much money on a car that is so obsolete is insane. It is amazing to me that if M-B is going to dump all this money into a super-premium brand that posts a profit loss every year, why not do some R&D and make a new ultra-luxury sedan that actually competes with Rolls and Bentley. I think the new E-Class is going to have more technology in it than this Maybach.

€3,950 for a Glade plug in? Blimey, are there people that monied and gullible still around...?

As a MB fan I plead to you...please kill this car. If you're going to build the same car for a long product life cycle next time don't share too many parts from the S Class. Do what RR does. They can build the same car for 10 years and people wouldn't car because it is unique to the car.

Hmmm, that or a loaded Brabus SV12 S Limousine. And the Brabus is half the price! I wonder....

Wow, The name may have some Maybach history, but it carries way too much baggage for most of the world. Airships of terror, unfortunate explosions, swastikas, German imperialism and nationalism, am I missing anything? Those are a fading legacy, and not what most people automatically think of when hearing the word "Germany". I would think MB would like to keep it that way.

A lot of people say this car is pointless, that's just an S-Class with a fancy badge. I resolutely disagree; in the metal, a 62S is probably the most imposing car on the market, but somehow it still managed to be understated; theres some feeling about absolute dominance of the road. And the interior is ridiculously nice (on the one I saw, anyway), the S-Class is nowhere near the same league. Though I do have to agree with v6s_stink -- the moment I hear the title Zeppelin I think Hitler. Which is fine, I'm not that hung up on hating him, but it's not a great marketing tool... It's a nice name, though.

RR looks like an old english house. And who needs an umbrella in the door, anyway? And that sarcophagus shape. It's only british exhibition of richness, not the world dominance. It's insular, not planetary. It's a question of aspiration and the way of reaching the goal. Yes, Zeppelin is related to Hitler and nazis but what could be more suggestive for ultimate power and dominance? If you want to be exquisite this is the answer. That's why so prohibitive the price. Everybody has S class. THIS is something else. Never mind the mecanics or details of design. The best luxury car ever. Period.

everyone seems to miss the point on this car. you have to look at who buys this car. rich and famous. they probabaly have 10 supercars at home in the garage and a rolls royce drop head already, but they just want something nice and comfortable and conservative to be chauffered to work in... this car is ideal. If you drive a rolls royce out in most cities in the world, you will get spat on. With this car you can be an inconspciuous billionair.

It can plug in XBox and PS2/3 into it! This car is for kids under 10 years old, not proper rich nobles. This car look so cheap(outside)that people think this is a stretch S Class. Get the S Class Pullman instead
