The new Z4 seen for the first time wandering the streets. Yes, there is the masking tape over the badges, but would anyone ever really mistake this for anything other than a BMW?
This next-generation Z4 has been one of the most anticipated redesigns of late. And we can see here the Z4 is going for a meaner, sleeker, more aggressive styling look.
The top horizontal line of the car seems to have been rounded more, making the car look like it is coiling back and ready to pounce. The headlamps are also stretched back - mean-eyed cat-like. It is unmistakenly a Z4 but it's clearly a bold new design not afraid to speak as to what this car is really all about.
Ironically, these pictures were taken in the parking lot at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, the location where the final E85 generation Z4 rolled off the production line in September. Production of the new E89 has since been moved to Regensburg, Germany.
The top version of this roadster will be the Z4 sDrive35i with a 3.0 liter, twin-turbocharged 6-banger with 306 hp and 400Nm of torque (295lb-ft). The entry-level Z4 sDrive23i comes with a 2.5 liter in-line 6-cylinder engine with 204hp (152 kW) and 250Nm(184lb-ft) of torque.
