Here are some new and improved spy shots of the McLaren P11.
The car is undergoing winter testing in Sweden and these spy photos capture it in all its camouflaged and frozen glory.
What do we know about the car? Not much.
The P11 is the replacement for the McLaren SLR and is tentatively slated for official introduction this spring. Production is scheduled to begin in 2010. It will likely come with a Mercedes engine, probably a supercharged V8 with somewhere in the vicinity of 550 to 600 hp. And, of course, the now standard F1-derived sequential gearbox.
The P11 will be a competitor to the Ferrari F430.
McLaren may be also toiling away in a research lab somewhere on a successor to the McLaren F1.
Lots of possibles and tentatives, yes.
Okay, it will, for sure, without question, cost more than 400,000 euros. That you can bet the house on.

This car is very exciting. We should all be anticipating the reveal of a Mclaren that will diminish anyone's reserves about the Mclaren name and its designs.
Regardless of the price, this is going to be a incredible vehicle with limitless capabilities! And it should look damn fine too!
PS: with the camo this looks like a mix between the R8, F430, Gallardo

high hopes and expectations for the new mclaren! and hoping they DON'T make an F1 successor unless they really have the backing for it - to make the same splash the original F1 did you're looking at being unbeated in top speed and acceleration for a decade - to manage that you're looking at over 300mph and 0-62 in literally one second. while still being a manageable, drivable car with some practicality. that's looking at horsepower in the thousands, not hundreds. not so easy to achieve.
btw, hope they keep the 3-seat layout if they do make an f1...
