Tesla Roadster

New Middle East based racing series in the works?

The all-electric Tesla Roadster wasn't expected to win over many fans in the Middle East but ironically the car has such a following that two separate groups are looking into setting up a Tesla racing series.

One of the groups is out of Qatar while the other is from Dubai and both are currently in talks with Tesla Motors to create what would become the world's first electric racing series. How successful such a venture would be remains to be seen, especially since the series would only feature Tesla Roasters. Oddly enough, the roadster isn't even on sale in the Middle East and it will take several years before Tesla lays the ground work for distribution. However a few wealthy individuals have bought their roadster in the US and then had them exported to the region.

Tesla has been burning through their cash reserves at such a fast pace that the company recently had to increase the asking price of the roadster's options and delay production of the Model S sedan. Given the company's current financial status, any possible source for an infusion of revenue would most likely be given serious consideration.

Other groups in the region have also taken a strong interest in Tesla Motors. One is looking into the possibility of giving away a roadster with the purchase of an energy-efficient home while another is considering the Model S for taxi service as well as creating a rental fleet of Tesla Roadsters.

haha, It will be a 24-hour race because if their battery charges are finished in the race, recharge the cars takes 6-8 hours. :)))

Who says they have to use the same battery? Since electric motors are more reliable than combustion engines, they should make this race 48 hours. :D
