Speculation as to the future of Volkswagen's lovely BlueSport concept shown in Detroit continues apace. Hot on the heels of last week's speculative rendering of a "Seat Salsa" based on the BlueSport, we've got another, more extreme imagining.

The latest speculative design combines the BlueSport's dimensions with styling elements seen in Seat's concept vehicles, especially the Bocanegra from last year and the Tango from back in 2003. The new rendering has more aggressive lines and looks quite different from the attractive but restrained BlueSport.

Seat's trademark descending side line features heavily, and the Bocanegra's influence is in the blacked-out front fascia. To keep the lines similar to Seat's current and future family styling, the rear-mounted engine's air intakes are hidden in the convertible top's opening.

Danger Mouse would love this! It's too mousy for me though!

Hey, isn't it about time to turn Seat into a global player, VW? We all notice how the VW brand is quickly moving upmarket, which is amazing from a marketing and branding perspective... but in times of recession, maybe it's a smarter move to offer cheaper cars, like those sold under the Seat or Skoda brands. I'm quite sure the Ibiza would sell pretty well in Brazil, just as the Leon would do just fine in the US... A Seat-Skoda lineup (Ibiza/ Leon/ Roadster/ Roomster/ Superb) could be a strong seller against the Korean offers.

I definitely agree that VW should consider selling the Octavia, Leon and Superb in the States, but is the Ibiza not too small? I know the MINI made it, but that's more of a fashion accessory than a car

I saw my first Seat ever a few weeks ago. It was a brilliant yellow colour, hatchback, clean, and deeply contrasted the overwhelmingly dirty, grey Toronto around it. Just thought I'd share.

uh that is an ugly rendering.

Stupid Question what is above Skoda or Seat in 'luxury' becuase Audi is at the top then VW then...

Skodas are sensible and Seats are emotive. I would say that luxury level doesn't depend that much on the brand but the model and trim.

Agreed, Seat could be a great value offer in the US, their cars are really nice, especially the Leon and new Ibiza. Just leave that stupid Toledo and make a proper sedan instead of it.

Seat cars are already available South of the border in Mexico. I don't know if they are made there or imported bu I did see a lot whilst I was there 2 years ago.

Well, they've got the Exeo... which is not actually a proper Seat sedan, but just a badge engineered, previous generation, Audi A4. I think it's lame... so I'd rather see the Skoda Octavia and Superb instead.
