Shadow Sports Design has given access to details regarding its Nissan GT-R conversion. The car has been given a number of new parts to enhance its performance. A carbon fiber rear spoiler is fitted and elevated to improve downforce. There is a rear air diffuser installed as well for the same purpose.

The 20-inch wheels are made of forged magnesium for both strength and lightness of weight. These were developed in conjunction with Enkei and each of the front wheels saves the car 2.05kg in unsprung weight. They are available in either black or a gunmetal finish. As a way of helping to cool the front brake calipers the front underspoiler has carbon ducts that lead directly to these brakes.

Titanium was the material picked when it came to manufacturing the exhaust pipe mufflers. The Shadow Sports Design GT-R has a pair of racing seats fitted with a harness. No performance figures have been released yet but it's been said that the carbon-clad official GT-R Spec V is two seconds faster around the Sendai Highland Raceway track in Japan than the standard car.

Did they remove its wisdom teeth? It looks swollen. Aesthetic upgrades to the GT-R are akin to pinning a bow tie on a turd. It still looks like a truck... or, in red, like a burn victim. I am eager to see how they improved its performance, though; it is brilliant in that respect.

I keep going back and forth on the design of the GT-R; one moment I love it, the next it leaves me a bit confused, as in a not-so-sure kind of way. For starters, I think it would look a whole lot better if they painted the side skirts and front/rear chin spoiler the same color as the rest of the car. In my opinion, it makes the car look unfinished -- as if it's sitting 3 or 4 inches higher off the ground.

I like it alot. Its clean as heck and doesn't mess too much with the stock aero work. I personally like the unpainted pieces, but thats me.

the R35 was always a bit of a problem for me, with regards to the tuning scene. that's where these types of cars (R34 GT-Rs, supras, etc.) have generally been more commonly found. non-corporate tuners love them because they're inexpensive and they're so easy to improve upon performance- and design-wise. but with this, nissan have come up with a car that's very near the absolute limits of what is possible with regards to performance, and the design doesn't really suit aftermarket additions, so it can't really be improved upon very easily, which kills the idea of a (relatively) low-priced japanese sportscar for me...

With all we see with firms like Techart and Hennessey, do you honestly beleive the GT-R is at its limit ? The aerowork may be the ONLY part of the car at its limit. The engine could go through alot more work with the proper internals, heads and what not. So could the suspension and other aspects. Even the transmission is bound to evolve and become more reliability.
