It seems it's the new 2.0 T(F)SI (EA888) already used in some Audis, which has nothing to see with the one in the Golf V GTI / Scirocco. The EA888 was introduced as 1.8 T(F)SI offers dieselesque torqueband (350Nm from 1500 to 4200rpm), constant max power (155kW from 4300 to 6000 rpm), and much better fuel consumption / CO2 emissions.

LOL WCF.... nothing has leaked :D This car on the photo is available for everybody in Wolfsburg/Autostadt. If you want to see the car in other colors, just check out the official Volkswagen Page: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/#/new/golf-gti-vi/

FP23, thanks for the info. Until VW officially makes an announcement we'll still consider it leaked or in other words, significant.

So instead of admitting you got it wrong WCF, you instead delete my comment about the 4 door being on display at the Paris Motor Show last year in both blue and red?? Just make a correction and admit you got this "scoop" wrong. Trying to delete comments proving you're wrong just does damage to your credibility...

That was the GTI Concept. This is the production version. But nevermind that it looks virtually identical... it still has two different names so this is still something.

If the car at Paris was a concept car (which I don't believe it was), then there's nothing production about the car in the pictures. It's the exact same car from Paris, but VW are now showing it off in the publicly accessible White Room at the Autostadt, where they regularly show of concept cars and production cars.

No problem Brian. Glad to see it's all been clarified. Multiple VW forums going crazy over a car that was first seen 4 months ago just started bugging me. Cheers.

1. Why would anyone buy this over the 2.0 TSI Scirroco!? 2. Using the wheels from the previous generation is CHEAP! Booo VW, you cheap sobs!

Whole make of Golf VI looks a major improvment. Good job indeed.

This thing looks epic! Finally, after a dull generation. They really have to grow out of those 90's style rims though...

This car is going to be crashed from the competition, the design is nothing spectacular, just the headlights are changed, VW needs some fresh idea that's for sure....
