I hope they keep Bangle as far away from any design instruments for this one...

I will defend Bungle on this one:) Yes, he did managed to design the ugliest beemers world have ever seen, BUT i am convinced, that without this, we would still have ne models of 3, 5, 7 that would be insignificantly different from previous ones. So yes, there was blood and tears, but i think thanks to him BMW has changed. Good, and for good:) X5? X6? both Z4'a? M3? they all ARE VERY GOOD LOOKING CARS! And without Bungles revolution, they wouldn't be here.

@ Motor_Yakuza: LOL yeah, to fix the back of the panamera As for the car, it looks like a smushed m3; really hope that's not the final version of the car

@dbehmoaras: it's not any version of the car, it's just a very good rendering that fooled many people including me some time ago. Still, I would like to see this new Bimmer to look like something between this, R8 and the M1 concept. I hope it won't be a Z8 style roadster.

@ kryst_PL i think you've got the measure of bangle's designs more than just about anybody else on this site. bmw needed to be brought into the 21st century, and bangle achieved that despite critics and haters worldwide. and to your list of great-looking bmw's i'd have to add the 6 series, as well as the M5. the standard 3/5 and both the 1/X3 and the new 7 are down to personal preference, but at least they're striking. and THANKYOU wcf for the edit button =)

Bangle is certainly not all bad. He's pushed the bar out in terms of mainstream automotive surfacing, and as a consequence many cars that would possibly be mundane without his influence are now exciting to look at and desirable (think Mazda2 and even this new wave of Merc design). I reckon car design would be much more dull without him.

(Picture used is a rendering of a possible BMW supercar from the WCF archives)IMO Looks very R8 ish. But a great looking car all the same.

Just stick a twin turbo version of the V10 (from M5/M6) in it, with 600+ HP. This would be very very challenging for the brand new V10 Audi R8!!!!!! Please BMW, Do it, Do it, Do it!!!!!!

3000 lbs + 400 HP with BMW Handling? Who cares what it looks like! This isn't a fashion show.

That is 700 pounds less than an M3 Coupe with the same amount of HP! (Plus the electric motor!)

Lol it's like nobody remembers that this was one of the pictures of the M1 Homage production thing (or whatever it was) from a couple months ago!

straight-6, probably 3.0L development: me like! Should be a nice change for the ever increasing engine-capacities. I wouldn't be surprised if it'll get the twinturbo diesel as a showcase for their diesel capability.

I think it actualy kinda looks alot like the old 8 series. And i hope they use the new n55 thats going to be based off the 3.0l n54 twin turbo but the n55 has a single twin scroll turbo that boosts even earlier and makes more torque

A BMW measured in inches, lbs, miles per gallon and pounds indeed.

Why don't they just make this a proper car, and put a proper V-8 or a V-10 in it to compete with the likes of Audi's R8? It's kind of depressing that they don't realize this. It would drop costs, and improve the attractiveness for the performance conscious. If BMW wants to make a green car, make it a diesel V-10 then. Or put that design in a different model. Damnit...

Really? No comments yet made about the car's name? ED? I mean, how fitting a name is THAT for a supercar! Now, I'm not one for convention, but even I will admit there is something horribly contradictory about a "green" supercar. It is bound to fail.
