Porsche Panamera Gets Stuck in Snow During Testing

Let?s hope it wasn't the AWD version

We've all had bad days at the office but the test driver of this Porsche Panamera probably wishes a quick acting spy photographer wasn't lurking around the corner to catch this candid shot.

Undergoing final winter testing ahead of the sedan's official launch at the Shanghai Auto Show this April, the Panamera lost control and ended up in a snow bank. Our ever courteous photographer kindly offered assistance but the driver declined instead preferring to be towed out by a comrade in Cayenne.

When it goes on sale later this year expect the new model to feature a variety of engine choices ranging from a V6 with around 300 horsepower to a twin-turbo V8 with about 500 horsepower. A hybrid will also join the lineup while a diesel version is possible but so far no official word has come down from Porsche. All cars will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission while the company's new seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission will be optional.

Designed as a four-door coupe, the new model offers the practicality of a hatchback but in the eyes of many the styling compromise needed to increase functionality came at to high a price. Inside individual rear seating restricts the number of backseat passengers to two, but at least they are greeted by nicely contoured seats that should prove comfortable and spacious.

The company predicts an annual sales volume of 20,000 units but judging by the current state of affairs in the automotive industry that could be a bit optimistic. Expect the Panamera to hit dealerships this August with pricing information and additional details to be released closer to launch.

Even after the disguise has been removed and all the spyshots and teasers this is a very disapointing car for me , most modern cars should have that wow factor about them and this just doesnt do it for me. I would prefer the cayenne ...Thins should really be going back to the drawing board as it is just to plain . And why would you put a towbar on a car like that?.

The tow bar was obviously put there for the test. They suspected the car might get stuck, that's probably also why they had the AWD Cayenne there. I do agree the car does not bring the "WOW" factor whatsoever.

A car with this price, can't look "acceptable". It has to look great, and this one looks awful.

the rear looks like a seal, and a seal lives in snow, so how come it got stuck there lol. I really don't like this car and i think porsche made a mistake by making it. between this seal, Rapid and CLS63 AMG i'll go for the CLS for sure, beautiful design, powerfull engine which offers same performance and cheaper also.

I have to admit it looks quite nice from certain angles like 3-4 front, but the rear reminds me the new Renault Megane...except the Megane looks better.

afterace2 you took the words right out of my mouth. Although I would've been inclined to say the back end of the Panamera looks like a Megane that has been sat on by a small elephant. I love Porsche, and I always will, but my God what the hell were they thinking with this? Well I still await the roadtest

So if the comments above represents the view of a majority of people...then I must be weird because I quite like this car. But then again my wife always say I have a very weird taste...and get's depressed when I tell her that she is beautiful^^ But really though...this car with AWD is the perfect car for a family of 3 (or 4.) Being a Porsche it will be a sporting drive with good performance. The appoints will be well crafted and of high standard. It will have the latest in tech gear that you need. The hatch is practical and has decent storage...and with AWD who needs a SUV? It just replaced the RS6 Avant as the car to get if you could have only one car! But just make sure when you take it out for drifting in the snow your friend with the Cayenne tags along.

This car will sell well because its a Porsche, not because of looks. On the other hand, it'll take sales away from the Cayenne, as most people that buy Cayenne buy it because its a Porsche that you can take your family in.

If you are honest with yourselves you will admit that all Porsches have an ugly aspect to their looks but, that is what makes them Porsches. Nothing on the road looks like them. Lexus and Hyndai can sell a car that looks similar to a Benz. No one even come close to looking like a porsche. Why? Because over half the beauty of a Porsche is how it performs. Behind the wheel you can't tell what it looks like anyway :-).

Don't worry Panamy... sister Cayenne is here to rescue you! maybe the Touareg's slogan applies here. "Cayenne, does things other Porsches can't do".

Haha, are they gonna blame Nissan now? It should of gone down in the snow with the way it looks, pure ugliness!

If other companies at porsche's level or higher can be realiable- porsche will have trouble. But i do not see that happening for another 5 years- as such porsche has a hit on their hands. It may not be beautiful, but it aint ugly- once u drive and sit in it... people will fall in love with it.
