true that rear view has 959 lines. front looks like a 997 test mule though. even though i love all the recent 911s with their classic design i really look forward to seeing a complete radical new design for the new car. lets wait and see

For sure. It just goes to show how Porsche designs are classic (and that they don't differ much, but I'm not complaining).

how can porsche make a new car with round headlights for 40 plus years?

Look Porsche, you make nice looking cars but this is getting abit boring, seriously. Come out with something new and interesting BUT dont make it ugly and an eye-sore like the panamera.

The exterior looks pretty neat, if a little lengthier than what I expect from a 911. Like Lamborghini said, it resembles the legendary 959.
Aesthetically, I am more worried about the interior. Porsche interiors?ironically, with the exception of the Panamera?are uninspired, insipid, and veeery boring. Knowing Porsche I don't think the dashboard design is going to change very drastically.

it'll be very similar to the 997 from the pics, but that's ok for me because the facelifted 997 was the only 911 i ever liked. i don't think porsche will ever change the 911; it'd cost them too many loyal customers.

exactly, if u want another look for the 911 u can buy an R8 or whatever

it is def. the next 911 turbo on test drives. whatever it will look like, it def. will be the benchmark again, no doubt

yea every Porsche is the same. You look at the interior of a 1980's 911, and then the interior of a 2009 911 and theyre the exact same. They never change.

You guys are all forgetting one thing:
THIS IS A PORSCHE!!!!
You drive/buy a porsche to drive a porsche.
If you want "sexy" looks you buy a Aston Martin
If you want a hard-top convertible you buy a Lexus
If you want a "luxurious" interior you buy a Merc
I'm thrilled to see Porsche sticking to their roots and making one of the best cars on the road inevitably better.

lol i'd say if you want sexy looks you buy an Aston,
if you want a hard-top convertible you buy a Merc
and if you want a good interior you buy an Audi.
i kinda agree with a lot of statements on here. the 997 is the prettiest 911 since the 993 for me, but i think there should be slightly more to differentiate them. and everyone who's complaining about the interior has obviously never sat in one because it's a very nice place to be

A Carrera is a Carrera because it is looks like a Carrera and the engine is in the back.
It just mutates to adapt advances in technology, but it never changes from its basic formula.
Like I had said before it is like a true classic icon that people love so much for many generations and it never changes or goes out of style like:
The Ray Ban aviator sunglasses, Rolex Submariner, Parker Duofold fountain pen, Tod's driving shoes, Brooks Brother's button-down oxford, a Vespa, Hermes Birkin bags, Barbour Coat...the list goes on.
These are all things that our parents (even grand parent's) bought and we can go out and buy the samething (but with some improvements.
Appreciating a Porsche can be an acquired taste in appreciating a timeless classic. It's not going to be trendy...and some people will hate it because it never changes.
It's like buying a classic Kiton suit instead of buying a trendy cut Dolce & Gabbana suit...all fine suits...but caters to a different taste.

the car seems to look flatter and longer than the 997. its quite possible the car was made longer so they can move the engine and transmission forward to minimize the rear weight bias, much the same way audi moved the front wheels forward on the current a4 to improve the handling.

Everybody hates on Porsche for being "boring" until they actually drive one. I had the priviledge to rock a 911 for a week in Miami and it completely changed the way I look at Porsches. The interior is very nice, solid and easy to read. The design grows on you very fast as you take a sharp turn doing 80 where many cars would hit the rail. All of a sudden, everything becomes clear. Porsches have been tweaked for the past 40 years and it shows. The thing is a hoot and deserves all respect.

after looking at these pictures for a couple of days, the facelifted 997 looks so old to me already
