thats so dumb, it's just a van. they add different rear doors which are less handy, they raise it a couple inches and call it an "SUV". that's no suv, it's rediculous

The Safari is one of India's most popular family cars. Giving it a minivan flavor won't do it any harm. Besides, it's good to see Tata finally designing some decent looking vehicles, like that and the new Vista. They've got so much potential in developing markets such as Russia, Brazil and China... they just need the right products now.

It is designed basically for Indian market and may be exported overseas where ride height is important keeping poor quality of roads in mind. Its not an SUV, its a direct competitor for Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylys.

i see what you mean lol, but still, they could at least give it some SUV design cues.

116 PS and 300 Nm of torque, you must be kiddin me, TATA already has a 2.2l 140PS, 320nm torque engine which is the engine for all future models.

What ever you call it, it is CRAP CRAP AND CRAP. I think in a couple of years Jag and LR acquisition will show in their products but as of now, everything TATA produces is third rate quality.

TATA=knows how to run a proper business, without running themselves into the ground and then begging for a government bailout

Yes, Insider, Tata has better engines and will have better engines soon as they are improving their quality bit by bit. jandrews90, it is not good to provide suv looks, for example, the car is already wide to accomodate more passengers and free more space, if they are fitted with pronounced wheel arches, the tyres would only go in and if they make the track wider, there are hundereds of complications, and one of them would be the headache in parking.
Tata may bring out an SUV from this platform, who knows, but I have seen this vehicle in flesh in Pune, and I can confirm that this car is not too tall as it looks in pictures, it is only as tall as an average Mini van, and for GOD sakes, its a minivan!
here is the link of the concept it is based on.
