New Renault R29, Williams FW31 cars revealed
2009 Renault R29

Renault's French-Swiss test driver Romain Grosjean, 22, was on Monday revealed as the team's third or reserve driver for the 2009 season.

The news emerged as the new R29 car, featuring a modified livery design for this year and a new sponsor in the form of Total, was launched in low-key fashion in the pitlane of the Portimao circuit in Portugal.

Fernando Alonso, team boss Flavio Briatore and Nelson Piquet posed with the car, with the latter Brazilian racer nominated to turn the maiden laps.

Williams' test driver, Nico Hulkenberg, also posed for photographs in the pitlane in the morning as the new Williams FW31 was readied for its own maiden test.

The Toyota-powered car was in an all dark-blue interim livery, with the final configuration to be revealed in February.

I fear Williams may have to as I can't believe RBS may be able to maintain their sponsorship with them being 70% state owned during a recession. That would surely leave too much of a craw in people's throats, espeicially with the return of F1 to the BBC, a channel funded through TV taxation...

I like The Renault paint scheme, it stands out and is a bit reminiscent of older Renaults a long time ago. Damn that Williams is sexy, ive been a fan of them for a long time since the Damon Hill days but this is the nicest in a long time.
