Nissan 370Z Roadster Design Sketches Leaked Via European Trademark Office
Nissan 370Z Roadster Design Sketch

While it may have been taken for granted that Nissan would eventually build a drop-top version of its new 370Z, no confirmation had been forthcoming until now. These are the sketches of the topless 370Z as they were submitted to the European Trademark Office.

The car shows some unusual shapes. For example the boot seems to be severely truncated as a result of the smooth sloping rear hatch being chopped. The shapely roofline appears to have disappeared too. Other than that Nissan has improved the work they did on the 350Z roadster by enabling the car's beltline to rise up smoothly and meet with the top of the boot. This makes it look more flowing, unlike the 350Z roadster which look abrupt in that area.

A public debut is expected at the New York Auto Show which would cement the 370Z's current standing as a US-focused car since the coupe debuted at the LA Auto Show this past November. Specs are not available as yet but we expect it to reflect the same engine and power output levels as the coupe. The coupe has a 3.7-litre V6 with 322hp (240kW) and 270 lb-ft of torque. Prices will be higher of course as it is with any convertible model of a coupe.

jeez, i hate the 370z so bad! It is just an ugly car and not as good looking as the 350z, sorry Nissan you have ruined a nice car that was a joy to see driving past in the morning

370z isn't that bad. The ugly things on the car are just taillight and frontlight desings. The rest of the car and its engine is perfect.

I went and saw the 370 in person...it's not as bad as I thought, though I still prefer the looks of my 350. Additionally the interior isn't as much an improvement as I thought...mainly just the center stack is better. Back to topic though, I think that looks better than the 350 roadster, I never really liked the helipad in the back of the 350.
