Brazilian design student Marcello Felipe Maggioni brings us this rendering of a Renault sports car. The design pays homage to the 1987 Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo, a car that in turn had inspired Marcello himself to be a car designer.

Several characteristics were taken from the original Alpine GTA in order that a sort of lineage was maintained such that if a modern version of the car were built its history and heritage would be obvious to the eye. A few of these exterior design characteristics include large headlights that droop very low on the front grille. The flowing swoosh behind the C pillar has been retained but changed to suit a more futuristic look. It also serves the purpose of being an air inlet for the engine.

The four front headlights are highlighted by the use of two LED light strips above each pair on either side. Rear lights also feature LED technology but with an added 3D effect. The engine is a Renault F1 powerplant modified for road usage. It's there for all to see under a large glass cover just behind the two seats.

Marcello is studying a course called Design of Mobility - Transportation Design, at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado in São Paulo, Brazil. Perhaps the day when Renault builds its awaited Alpine sports car, a design similar to his one will emerge.

I want to add more to that. Although it taps into Alpine's legacy, I don't think that's a good thing. It's a Renault brand now and needs to reinvent itself now as pure spotrs, using the sleekest styling and best of Renault/Nissan mechanicals/underpinnings. This achieves none of the above. It look slike a rendering of a BMW front end smashed into a Lexus and that is NOT what Alpine has ever been about.

I smell riots in Dieppe!

The curves dont contrast very well with the hard sharpe lines and corners, curve here corner here etc etc, the front looks complety wrong to the rest of the car.

this guy likes bimmers - the front lights, apart from being spaced out, are nearly identical to those of a 6 series. and the side indicator beneath the badge was last seen on the Z4, i think.

Marcello Felipe Maggioni, look at the Volvo SC90 Concept. There are a lot of things you can learn from it.

Don't worry, Marcello... there is a future for your work.

In Ssangyong.

Oh, wait, it went bankrupt these days, right... So... nevermind!

Do not pay attention to the most of comments above Marcello, they is trying to dump on anything which is not like R8, BMW 7 series or tuned Merc. You have that car designer need. In real company and design work you will be good. Very Renault car too.

a good point, but i think you were a bit off on the 7 series - it's a bangle car, and to most of the minds on wcf "bangle" is a dirty word merely out of principle

7 series do not belong to the "...BMW's bangled banner" really. Its more China/Russia/India dedicated stuff.

Tell Marcello to get a job that suits him better. That car is the most ugly thing I have ever seen.
