U.S.? How about Quebec? We got alot of small hatches running around here. More Echo and Yaris hatchbacks sold here than anywhere in North America.

You see alot of cars like this in Mexico as well (I believe the VW Polos sold there are European produced, possibly Brazilian). And of course, the size of this car is really the same size as early 80s Rabbit/Golfs and Japanese hatches.
They really need to advertise the turbo diesel though, which they have ignored in the US. ~70mpg would drop people's jaw, especially in a non-hybrid. A turbo diesel Polo would make a mockery of the gas BMW Minis and Smart cars being sold in the US with unimpressive fuel consumption.

And yet American companies continue to promote the Mustang, the Camaro, and the Challenger as though its still 1969 instead of 2009.....
