2010 Mercedes E-Class Sedan Presented on Video for First Time

New Mercedes-Benz E-Class in motion - First official video of 2010 E-Class

Now we get to see it move.

Here's a video on the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan. Watch and wonder.

The E-Class sedan will come with a wide range of both petrol and diesel engines all with improved fuel economy. Three new 4-cylinder diesel engines, the 200, 220 and 250 CDI, come with an average mileage of only 5.3 liters per 100 km (44 mpg US) and all are EU5 compliant. The new E 350 BlueTEC, a six-cylinder diesel engine set to make it into the E-Class this fall, already meets EU6 emissions standards that are to come into effect in 2014.

Improvements are in effect on the petrol side too with stop/start technology on the E 200 CGI with 184 hp returning an impressive fuel economy of 6.8 liter per 100 km (35 mpg US).

Mercedes recently announced pricing on the E-Class for the German market. Ten different E-Class configurations starting at €41,590.50 for the E220 and climbing to €70,269.50 for the E500 4matic. Question: What is the 50 euro cents for? Seriously, couldn't they just round it off?

The design is starting to grow on me as I understand it better... but the rear still has an unfortunately Asian appearance to it. Not very European or "Mercedes" from the rear, something with the deck lid or tail lights... I'm not sure.

The design still hasn't grown on me. Its still too conservative and 80's like. Look at the interior it look cheap and outdated.

If the new E looks "80's like", it should be just as popular as the W123-series were!! The interior doesn't look cheap at all, never mind outdated. This truly is a Stunning car!!

If this is "cheap and outdated" to you, what do you consider a good interior?

Go to any Motorshow, with all Audi, BMW and Mercedes together. The new Mercedes interior design philosophy looks already outdated compared to the Beamers and Audi.

What are you talking about?! Your english is even worse than asian!! If Benz is so mind to have its product copied by someone else, they did a good job to this new car!! It's so ugly that no one will willing to copy again!!

i like it all in all/that's a bit wierd that the rear lights look realy good on the E500 and ugly on the others(in my opinion)...

I may have missed something, but why don't they have a sport version like for the C-Class. I don't think this car will appeal to young buyers as a 5-series would. Also, the wheels are horrible. How can they have two choices of 20 inch wheels for the GLK, but have nothing decent to propose on this higher end model?

Im really not happy with the design. I currently drive a 2006 E-Class, and i wanted something new that will shock me. This hasnt done anything to me, what makes me angry the most is the rear of the car, can the rear get any worse then that? If you compare the rear of my E-class to this, most people will agree that the older design is better. The only thing i could do now is wait for the E-class Coupe, im sure that rear will look much better then this, but if its the same case with the E-Coupe, then i think i will wait for the 2010 5-Series or 2011 Audi A6. What a bad rear design Mercedes!

That's exactly how I feel! Except for the fact that it's my dad with the 2006 E-Class... I love my dad's car right now but when it's time for him to get a new car, he'll end up getting this because he only drives Mercs... The old shape was better from every angle- when you change a car's look you supposed to make it look better. Not "good". Seriously wtf.

Yes, i like what you said "when you change a car's look you supposed to make it look better".. If you take the new S-Class for example, it was a complete change from the old S-class and the same with Lexus GS or Audi A6. This new E-class still looks the same, but that's not a problem, why couldnt they keep the rear the same too, with a few changes. lol

Wait for the A7 FastLane. And yeah the rear is quite ugly, but I wait to make up my mind until I see one in real life. BTW I also find it pathetic that they still offer 16 inch rims for a car of such class, and that even the AMG version doesnt go beyond 18 inch..

I agree with you, we have to wait until we see it in real life before deciding anything. But i've been watching video's and looking at picture's of the new E-class and if you look at the picture from the side meaning that the car is facing left and the rear is facing right, you will see that the rear shape is not matching the body of the new E-Class. And that's exactly what im going to do, i'll wait and see how the Audi A7 will turn out, thanks for the advice! :)

big wheels ruin the ride, and the ride is very important in a merc - where bmw has sport, merc has luxury, so the merc should have the more comfortable ride

I understand th design now, they wanted to make E-class styling look more modern, fresh and stylish. And the did well, everything looks good, apart from that Hyundai Sonata rear lights. Anyway I would like to have that car as my daily driver, E500 4matic for me!

i was waiting for something better than this, it just confirms that Mb has fallen behind design wise to Bmw and audi, i never thought id say this.somehow i fail to see how this will take customers away from BeMyWife's 5 series and audi's A6 but i guess time will tell

wat are you on? the e-class has sold the most among the big 3. the 5ser is the better car but mercs have sold much more even with the inclusion of say taxis, cop cars and other extras. the audi a6 is nowhere in sight. styling is conservative but the e-class is always gonna sell no doubt.

E350/550 has come in a Sport model with 18" wheels for 3 model years now as a no cost option. Anything over 18" is more for bling than for performance. The 20" wheel option on the GLK gives it a great stance, but dubs on an E-Class is just ghetto.

I've always been a big fan of the E-type, but this car is just axx-ugly. And gimmicky. And cheesy.

MAN!!!! this looks like a post-matured hormone-injected c-class. especially from the sides. i think its an ok car but not worth €41,590.50. and the 0.50 is the price of the last light bulb they fitted in, which was €6.50. sorry they couldnt handle the cost of 0.50 mate. yeap, sorry.

well, they sell what, maybe 20,000 of these a year? for about 8 years? if they raise the price by 50c, nobody notices at all. but 50c x 20,000/year x 8 years = 80,000EU for free. quite a clever marketing trick - it's like that guy who stole 1 cent from 500 million people's banks accounts - nobody noticed, but he made 5 million!

The square shapes and the interior, more or less, ok. But the rear... too serious, japaneese look... I don't know...

Again as I said before, the W211 comes with more pleasant European elegant look (more ntural beauty) vs this W212 with huge made up to bold it up...as a result though W212 looks good, its lost its character and carisma.

I don't know how to judge this car, modern? Tech-packed? manlike? I don't see any specific design ques the E-class used to have. I still love my ancient W124 very much though, or maybe I just need more time to get used to it! But anyway, I think that heritage is very important for BENZ, and maybe I just can't see it at this moment! Time will prove whether or not it is a good design after all. Let's wait and see!
