The front end reminds me of a Ford... the rest looks like an IS. Not very inspiring.

Why not just call it a corolla hybrid.. because that's exactly what it is.

Actually, this can be very sucessfull around intelegent people, because this is the most legal way to run from taxes! I don't know how is it America, but in most of European countries, "h" cars have a lighter tax charge. And you still get a luxurious car, same level than the IS, 3-Series, C-Class or an A4, with similar fuel consumption.

Looks like a new toyota avensis, and only 187hp for a 2.4 liters is not impressive at all. the 2.2 diesel from the IS220d makes much more sense in Europe.

So boring.
But hey, it's a Lexus... even Buicks are more esciting these days.

Immediate !banishment! for you. I'll say the article should've provided some info on the fuel economy just so they don't banish my comment.

ahhhh stop it with the hp/liter... I tuned a CBR 600cc engine to put out 90hp naturally aspirated. And that was with a 20mm intake restrictor! That number is absolutely meaningless.

Styling wise this looks like the Lexus version of the 1st generation Prius.

it doesn't look like an avensis and if you look closely to body lines, especially pictures showing side and back, or inside, it's an european auris/corolla sedan, only with lexus IS like front lights, and something strange in the back. Strang toyota/lexus says it's above IS, cos' this one is actually smaller:(.

@ morpik
it's the 2009 avensis sedan with a lexus bodykit and hybrid
it's a bit bigger then the IS, so it make sense it's above the IS

Wow Lexus really have a dreary line-up. Here's a brand crying out for a bit of spunk and this is what they come up with! Who said hybrids can't be cool?

I like Lexus alot, this is a very nice car. Too bad Lithium batteries are horrible for the environment when they go. That said, its probably the nicest hybrid.

This Camry with Lexus body will have no change to be sold in Europe, there own 2.2 diesel engine is more efficient than this 2.4L with heavy batteries, why don't Toyota doesn't just bring the Camry on the market in Europe?

NASTASTIC
great that they are investing in this sort of technology, but what a hideous looking car. 90's much? how about lexus throw in some forward thinking design w/ some forward thinking cars

Wow! Not one person has anything nice to say about this car. Lexus wasn't trying to achieve a sporty look when developing this car, the goal was to develop a vehicle similar to that of a Prius. You can call it boring but it's the nicest hybrid I've ever seen. Setting higher levels of efficiency and using sustainable materials to build a car that will be better for the environment. Shouldn't that be the goal for all automakers?
It's not always about how much HP a vehicle has, it's about quality.
You can hate on it's looks but when it goes on sale in fall, you'll see everyone driving it. It'll sell like hot cakes. I guess "boring" is in?
