525 Hp lolol wtf they have to step it up , rs6 is 570 , but the car seems like a very nice quality overall , style is not agressive , and kind of lame , however the front end is very nice.

Firstly, you should realise that PS and hp are different. the E63 will have 518hp, and the RS6 has 572hp. I don't think that when you're talking about 54hp difference between figures in the 500s of horse power, in a 4.8/4.9m long car that long car, one being ever so slightly ridiculously faster than the other is going to make one ounce of difference when the handling, gearbox, and a shedload of other stuff has to be right about it as well.

The rear looks like Hyundai Sonata's. Benz C-Class has a way better looking rear lights.

I don' like the exterior. I expected the new E-Class to look like a S-Class or C-Class. It's boring and Korean. Shame on You, Mercedes. Having such a great models as CLS or SL to come up with sth like that

I think the E500 one with nice twin rectangular exhaust looks very sweet (i recon this is the AMG package), but the cheaper versions look much less attractive. The interior looks very solid and nice. But where is the nightvision going to be displayed? On the satnav screen?

it probably replaces the speedo like on the S-class

I agree. That E500 looks quite good. Its clear the've taken quite a lot of the styling straight from the C-class. Even the interior is pretty much exactly the same. Look how polular the C-class is at the moment, and with the huge press the C63 AMG got, I think this will be quite polular too. No doubt the mad dog that is the E63 will not dissapoint when it comes to competing with its rival. That 6.2 litre engine is such a great engine.

Herrendous styling inside and out, the side profile is 10 years old. Looks cheap, almost as if was designed to be a taxi from the beginning. I can't see it attracting people away from the awesome Jaguar XF series!!!

hehe the Jaguar? You have to be crazy to spend money on Jag. They are pieces of crap. Have you been in one???

Ok then, it's not just me who thinks MB has lost its way in the styling department.

No you're not alone in thinking that MB have totally lost the plot as far as styling goes ... it's really disappointing to see them lagging so far behind their two main Euro competitors.

I've mentioned it before, but I blame it on the goofy bow-shaped belt line. If the car was straightened out a bit, it would look better. It's almost as if at the last minute they said "Sheizer! Zis caw eez to long!" So they put a bulldozer in the front and back and just squished it up a bit. Just my opinion, of course.

i'd still take the 5 series, but looks like it'll turn out to be another very decent merc saloon. as for the styling, boring and, someone said it, very korean in standard garb, but pretty damn nice with the AMG kit. i think i know why - it's the bottom of the front grille. on the AMG kitted one it's curved and slopes downward so it looks aggressive, but on the standard it looks cut off, square and korean - not a nice mix. as for the E63 - 525hp? against the 565hp RS6? it's probably lighter than the audi, but what about the M5? it'll be heavier than the bmw and it only has 18 more hp. and, of course, there's the new M5 coming in 2010(?), which will probably be a good 50-100kg lighter owing to the smaller engine and probably with the same or higher output? nah i'm not sold, the AMG needs to be the one with the big boots, leave the nimble lightweight stuff to the M5..

So what? In 1st place the RS6 has 572hp/426kW. In second place is the CTS-V with 550hp/410 kW, E63 in 3rd with 518hp/386kW. In 4rd, the XF-R has 510hp/380kW, the M5 has 500hp/373kWin 5th, in 6th is the STS-V with 469hp/350kW, in joint =7th, the VXR8 and 300c SRT-8 with 425hp/317kW. _______________________________________________________________________________ draw a line under all that, the silly top trumps game is over (without looking at luxury saloons like S-class/7-series). It's no good playing it if you mix hp and ps anyway, and its what it drives like that really counts.

oh i'm not talking about the german power wars top trumps, i'm saying that it's some of the strongest competition going, and to keep the performance figures competitive i'd think it'd need more power. you're right, far more important is how it drives. that's really the most important thing. and the best driving one always has been, and considering their design philosiphy, probably always will be, the bimmer. that's why i'd take the M5 over this or even the 570hp RS6.

on the begining i did hate it, but now I get it. It looks modern and like a Merc and that's what they wanted to create with this design, simply modernize it's predecesor. The interior is great and I think everyone is going to like it.

both of my parents have e-classes (2001&2008) and i think theyll like this one a lot because they complain about the newer one not being as "upright" or boxy as the 2001. sounds like benz was listening to customers like them who miss the squared off look, but with that said, i think everything looks ugly on the new one ^ except for the front end. The interior looks like an ugly version of the current 5 series interior; not just the infotainment system, but the layout as well
January 11, 2009 1:57 pm
Our family has had the E-Class ever since the good old W123. Right now my mother and I both have the W211 (mom the 2002 and me the 2007), so I've lived with an E-Class as a passenger and a driver for almost 30 years. Ofcourse when my mother has to buy a new car...she will probably buy this...but as for me...I think not. I like the head on view...but that's all about it. I hate the way the LCD on the infotainment system is hooded in the same part as the instrument cluster like the GLK. I prefer the assymetrical layout in my W204 C-Class with the pop-up LCD. And where is the shifter! I just can't get used to a car with the shifter on the stalk. It reminds me too much of my dad's old Cadillac Fleetwood. Also, as with all the newer Mercedes you really need atleast an 18 inch wheel to make it look right because the rear body panel is so tall and slab-sided. My C Class with the 17inch wheel from the sports pack look like they are 15inch wheels! As it was before...but even worse now...is that you really need to buy the higher trim (Advantgarde) or else the Hyundai Sonata will feel more luxurious, because cars these days have so much tech-stuff! (The sales manager I just hired used to work for MB as a sales-man and he said that they call the Executive trim the "tin-can") BUT...it will probably grow on me...and I'll probably like it...because it's a Mercedes and even though you know it's not the best handling or the most powerful in its class, or the most well optioned...once you've lived with one and learn to appreciate it...there's really no other car that you look at...

I realize that Benz probably nailed this design by hitting their target audience, but apparently I am not part of their target audience. The sedan isn't necessarily ugly, it is just way too conservative. The coupe on the other hand is gorgeous to me and looks even better on video (moving) than standing still. It's funny how the essentially identical interior even looks better in the coupe simply because the shifter is on the floor instead of steering column.

I’m so confused right now. The leaked pictures showed a console-mounted 6-speed manual, a console-mounted traditional P-R-N-D + - automatic gear lever, and then a steering column-mounted lever that is in most Mercedes’ right now. So which will this car be? I would most certainly prefer the console-mounted lever or the stick.

the hyundai genesis actually looks way better than the merc! When i first saw the genesis i thought that it was an ugly car...but mercedes did everything to prove me wrong!

i don't know, after this pictures i've change my opinion/ it looks much better than on the pics that leaked before,...the exterior is in my opinion now much better/beautiful, bur the front lights could be much much better. I hope there will be some redesign very soon...

I think it will look much better in the flesh, especially the rear.It appears to be more sculpted and angled than what you can see in the photos.
