This new appearance steps up highly from the stock edition. Hope it drives as good as it looks.

Most germans seem to make at least 100 horsepower/liter with normal aspiration. Why does a 5 liter motor need a supercharger to make 510 horsepower. It is like the new corvette zr1 it should make 600 horsepower without a supercharger for a 6 liter motor.

Unlike high reving naturally aspirated engines, the XFR's supercharged V8 can deliver 625Nm (461 lb.ft) of torque starting at a low 2,500rpm. Among its competitors, only the BMW M5 uses a smaller displacement naturally aspirated high-reving engine. The E63 AMG uses a larger displacement naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8 to get over 500hp, while the Audi RS6 uses twin-turbochargers.

If this car competes, it will be a tremendous vehicle. I really hope Jaguar is able to do what it was unable to do under Ford management.

Why not? You talk as if the only metric used by people who buy these cars is power. You forget that these people grew out of Top Trumps a long time before they could efford to blow £70K on a car.

yeah id rather have an M5 too but would buy this one for the mrs. That black looks sick! those wheels dont tho; that car with black wheels and tint would look amazing

sounds good but somehow the car doesnt look "R" enough. black paint tends to hide all the details and those wheels are terrible, look like hubcaps. an all white or dark gray with five spoke wheels would have been more presentable.

if it's going to compete with the german power wars, 510 probably won't be much unless it's REALLY light.. rather an M5 too, but still, it looks nice

And this car wont beat the new CTS-V, especially to 60 mph. The CTS-V does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds while the Jag does it in 4.7 seconds. Cadillac has improved on the new CTS-V, it can now rival the european high performers too.

yeah but the euro high performers are built to last and have nice interiors. that's where the price difference comes from

yeah and if history repeats itself, jag (like bmw, benz etc) will be conservative in their 0-60 #'s (probably less that 4.7 secs) whereas chevy wont

Yeah like the SL-65 Black, they say around 3.9, if i had to throw a guess it would be closer to 3.1. I remember the brabus SL said 3.9 and it was 3.1 when they tested it. The audi RS6 should be around 3.5 if not lower. But this car is a combination for the stylish performance enthusiast. The german cars are for the techy performance enthusiast, winning over their customers with fancy technology that this jag cannot touch. But the jag has something the germans dont, an unbelievable style. Two completely different markets, no point in comparing them.

schnell this is for you... jaguar xf-r: a sport, 4 door sedan that can be used as a family car. main rivals: m5, e63 amg, rs6, etc. corvette: a sport, 2 DOOR COPE that is more oriented towards extreme competition of performance, more of a track car. main rivals: sl65 amg black edition, viper, m6....... so u cant compare this to the corvette. THE only car that can lie between the two niches is the cls!

The American cars with cheap interiors argument is getting very played out here gentlemen. Anymore it just comes across as a biased last resort when an American car is either a valid competitor or better than it's Euro, Japanese counterparts. Anything is built to last when it has the maintenance bills associated with European cars, whereas anyone with any experience with an LSX motor knows you can take it to a track repeatedly, beat the balls off it for the day, and drive it home like nothing happened. Granted the CTS-V is a bit off topic, but can we relax the over generalizations...after all, we're all adults.

Some very impressive technology under that sexy body aswell. What is important to buyers in this segment is overall performance. Luckily, Jaguar didn't just drop in a new engine and call it quits. The paddle-shift ZF six-speed automatic transmission is beefed up internally to handle the extra grunt. Larger brakes and a quicker steering rack are used as well. More interestingly, the chassis receives some electronic tweaks. First, an active dampening system called Adaptive Dynamics is fitted. This is a more advanced setup compared to simple, two-step dampers in the outgoing XF Supercharged. The second bit of chassis trickery is even more interesting. It's called Active Differential Control (ADC) and is an electronically controlled limited-slip rear end. It utilizes an electric motor with a multi-plate clutch and can actively transmit torque to the wheel with the most grip. Jaguar claims that ADC offers increased traction while avoiding the negatives of a fully mechanical differential such as increased understeer. Jaguar says that in dynamic mode, the dampers are stiffened and with the stability control switched off, ADC allows controllable power oversteer and improved off-throttle stability...

Roger - the Jag has equal power and more torque than the M5, more torque and the high tech diff will make the Jag pull faster and harder out of the bends than the Beemer etc...

i'd say the jag would intially pull away from the M5, but as the bimmer gets into the high rev range it would start to pull it back

well E55 AMG and E63 AMG are both faster! Also CLS is faster with AMG engine! M5 it`s hard to say because with 507hp it is lower figure than Jag 510 but anyway the torque is that what makes the difference! if you think this could compare Audi RS6 then your are out of your mind...no way Jag is even near Audi RS6!
