Nissan GT-R SpecV video released

Didn't get a chance to see the Nissan GT-R SpecV at the Tokyo Auto Salon? We can at least bring you one step closer with this truly excellent promotional video of the car.

The two minute clip includes some very cool shots of the car racing around the Ring. Kazutoshi Mizuno, head vehicle designer at Nissan, also discusses the vehicle in Japanese.

The GT-R SpecV sheds roughly 60 kg when compared to the standard GT-R. Powered by a 3.8-liter V6 with 434 ft-lb of torque, the twin-turbocharged engine cranks out 480hp. That last figure is the same as the GT-R, but the boost controller installed by Nissan adds more torque in higher gears by additional, short bursts from the turbos.

Carbon-ceramic brakes and race suspension also come on the tuned SpecV. With components like the body panels, grille, spoiler, and brake ducts made of carbon fibre, the company decided to only offer the GT-R SpecV in their Ultimate Black Opal colour. Lightweight aluminum wheels are wrapped in stickier-than-normal tyres. The SpecV is also a two seater, as opposed to the standard four-seater. The new seats are also carbon fibre, and made by Recaro.

Nissan put a limit on GT-R production to about 1,000 per month. Only 20 to 30 GT-R SpecV will be made each calendar month. At a cost of 15,750,000 yen (€127,000), the Nissan GT-R SpecV will hit Japan's showroom floors next month. A European rollout is also planned this year. Nissan executives are debating whether or not to offer the car in North America.

Not worth the extra $$, which looks like will be twice as much.

How can it cost twice as much when they have only done so little? New tyres, brakes and seats are not worth that much.

ehhh at least horsepower figure should be abova 500 :P not worth of extra money, specially if you consider that this is not the most powerful version at all!!! Yes EU-spec GT-R has 485hp :D

Some one on another forum said something smart about the price. This car may be so expensive because we knew the GT-R was making Nissan low money if not losing them money. The cars price might be Nissan making their money back. I do like the car regardless what i said on the other post. It is expensive but it will be close in performance to other cars, without LC needed. It has good power although im SURE its underrated for insurance reasons in Japan(600hp declared would equal customers being raped by insurance companies there). Its a good car and the weight loss is great.

The car isnt meant to cruise around in or travel long distances- Its purely meant for the track period! Want a car to drive around on regular roads get a GTR ... want a car for the track V spec ... High end components dont come cheap.

will this one's gps taddle-tale on your visit to a track like in the current gt-r and therefore void your warranty?

Its not really that expensive for what it is, its got a lot of top end upgrades, the brakes alone would be hefty, I was lucky to travel 80 kms to go have a look at a standard gt-r and the photos and videos don't do it justice, it looks mean as hell had to wipe off my drawl from the bonnet, was very impressed, i'm still keen to see some performance figures will be interesting to see how much more pace it has.

I love the gtr to death, but this one seems overpriced and still too heavy. If I really wanted a track car, I would save my money and spec out a old skyline which would kill any porsche already. You cant tell me that a GT2 will be able to take a tuned 600-700hp skyline. If i wanted a really fast car for the road I would get a regular GTR. If I really wanted to, i would upgrade my GTR better than what the spec V offers for less money. maybe ill put pzigly spec on it lol ;)

Unless you're talking R35 GT-R, a Porsche 911T would likely rip apart an R32-34 GT-R. Thats what the car was made for, not drag racing ;).

I was talking about a modified r34. A modified r-34 can take on any porsche on the track.

Yea i was a little disappointed about the weight and lack of hp increase but it looks like it goes hard, yea a r34 gtr nur with 700 ponies would be dam hard to beat even for the spec-v

I love the R34. It corrected all of the problems the old ones had and its more reliable as a track car than the porsche or the new GTR. AND you can do whatever you want with it.

The r34 still looks the part too saw one the other day (was a gold nur-spec) and it still stands out like dogs testies, i wonder if nissan will bring out a nur-spec of the gt-r like the r34? here's hoping. the r33 was an ugly sucker but when i saw the r34 for the first time in a mag i couldn't stop looking at it. and they look lower and more aggressive than any photo can express.

Take a look at the Z-spec. That car is no joke. It will probably outpreform any one of the cars mentioned above.

Did you mean the z-tune? yes its my all time favourite, special edition from nismo, Hows your Nissan going? does it have the 3.5l or the 2.5l v6 and is it very economical?

It has an RB28DETT, its the RB26 bored out to 2.8Ls, gives it more low end torque and punch. It also has the transmission and suspension of the race cars too if im not mistaken. That would be a very tough match for a GT2 i must admit. Its also my favourite GT-R, though the Mine's BNR34s are verry very close.

The 3.5l is mor economical on the freeway than the 2.5l. The 2.5 is a big 4 cylinder. The feeling of torque and acceleration is identical at the start, but once that 3.5L gets going it will leave the 2.5 in the dust. I was able to beat a bmw 645i. In first we were identical, but once i shifted to second, i started pulling away. I stopped tryin after 120mph. I beat him by 2 car lengths. Its only 3200 pounds and its manual. Mine has 250hp and 250 torque. 25-33 on the freeway and if I try hard 22-23 city. But my city doesnt have that many stops. I know that if you put exhaust, cpu, intake, and suspension on the 2.5L you can take a 3.5L because of the lighter engine Warning for the 3.5L. The service for the spark plugs for the 3 in the back are hard to get to. But thats after 100k miles.

I havent done anything, except for a K&N Filter (same VQ engine found in the Z). Our 2.5L is different from your 2.5L. Our 2.5L is a I4. I wish we had those small 2.5L v6 or I6 engines here in the states. I only have front wheel drive on my 3.5L but i still love it. I like the way the Stegea looks even though its a wagon. It also has nice specs. You dont need the 3.5L. You can hook up those small engines to preform better than the 3.5L. Here its hard to tune the 3.5L VQ series found in the Z.

That's not bad at all, have you done anything to it?? Ill be getting a 2004 stagea with the 2.5lv6 that has 220hp and a fuel rating of 3.6 out of 6 but I'm really keen on the turbo awd atessa version with 280hp but has a fuel rating of 2.5 out of 6, Ive heard great reviews of the stagea of course its a Nissan, apparently one guy told me he got 700km out of a 70l tank around town with the 2.5l model, There's a few different models the 2.5lv6, 2.5lv6 awd, 2.5lv6 turbo awd, and the 3.0lv6, for what i need i think the 2.5l awd will do the job as the atessa can be turned off so its just rear wheel drive, still deciding really its a pity Nissan stopped producing the stagea after 2004.

You're getting a Stagea ? GOOD MAN. That is one of my favorite Nissans of all time. I like to think of it as a wagon GT-R/Skyline. For outside looks you should shoot for Autech aero peices, they look F-ing nice, no lie.
