Spy photographers have managed to capture several camouflage-free shots of facelifted Jaguar XK-R in what appears to be production trim. As the car that launched Jaguar into the modern age with its clean lines and luxurious interior, the updated XK hopes to continue the initial success of the orginal model when it first launched in 2007.
The biggest change comes in the form of a redesigned front bumper that ditches the current generation's fog lights for large air intakes that are finished in chrome. In the rear the taillights have undergone some subtle changes and are now equipped with LED's, the latest must have in the luxury segment. There also appears to be a new rear diffuser and the quad exhaust has been replaced by twin tailpipes. Rounding out the exterior updates are revised door mirrors that feature integrated LED turn signals and new wheels.
Little is known about what changes will be made to the interior, but it is expected to borrow heavily from the Jaguar XF parts bin. The only thing that we can confirm is that the company's drive select dial transmission system will be part of the package.
As we have previously reported the updated Jag should benefit from a range of new engines including a new direct-injection 5.0-liter V8 that should produce around 400 hp in the XK and at least 500 horsepower when equipped with a supercharger for duty in the XK-R. For those who want style and fuel economy, the recently introduced twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 diesel that produces 271 horsepower and 442 ft-lb of torque should get the job done.
Expect to see the updated XK and XK-R debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit or a few months later at Geneva Motor Show.
